It might if you are running from your car to your house, just a few feet, not any length of time in the rain. I purchased this item based on positive reviews that it stayed perfectly dry in the Ireland rain. It is a really comfortable jacket with a nice soft lining. It has a good weight that keeps me just warm enough in the cool rain. I really like that it's longer in the back to cover your booty if you want to sit down. I ordered this jacket for the purpose of taking it with me on my travels to some really rainy areas in Iceland and the UK, and it was the PERFECT jacket.
