Review: Timex Standard High Quality....but, Oh well. The new one I bought, the Indiglo went out in 60 days. - The Quality was exactly the standard that timex set for the most affordable, most durable, most useful, most attractive watches in the industry. I've owned this one since 2022. I have to say it's all of the above WITH ONE EXCEPTION: The Indiglo never worked from the moment I took it out of the box. I didn't think anything of it. I thought it was another diluted standard brought on by the corporate enshitification so pominent in the world today. I WAS WRONG! For under 35$, who cares? It's 2025 and I'm buying another one. I put this thing through hell. I work on Industrial Refrigeration and Mechanical Infrastructure. I'm rough on everything I own and my hands and arms are exposed to 130 degree F Condesner relief temps regularly, 170 degree F Asphalt Equipment Pads (on which I stand for hours in the direct sunlight) in 115 degree F Ambient air temps all while keeping track of timing of sequences of operations, using My Timex as my number-one tool for keeping track of that kinda stuff. Diagnosis would not happen without it. Accuracy: Hmm. a little behind the iphone weekly or monthly; loses about 5 minutes a month? maybe less. Either way, when I was trying to set it to the current time the other day, I pulled the crown right out of the watch to try and set the time. I put it back in and committed to purchasing another one. The crown is still in there, the watch still is keeping time (more slowly) and I just can't update the time it has lost. So in a month or so from now, it will be too far behind the actual time to be useful for me. Very well worth the cost! UPDATE: two months after purchasing the new watch, the indiglo stopped working when I needed in my sleep last night. I have contacted timex. I'll update this review once I get a robo-response from them.
Review: First Timex watch - Just recently bought the Timex expedition scout T49961 field watch and am overly excited about this purchase since it's my first ever Timex watch. Really wanted the basic no extra nonsense or things on the watch most of us don't really need or use daily, other than to tell the time and possibly the date function. I wanted that clean basic field watch look including the 24 hour military time, having the date function on the watch was a bonus plus it's incredibly legible to read from any angle. The movement is a basic standard quartz which doesn't have that loud noticable ticking sound that Timex is well known for. I've heard that Timex possibly looked into the things or sometimes the criticism of the ticking since mine is very quiet maybe including even the materials used in this specific watch. It's versatility is unmatched as far as wearing daily and any occasion to be honest including handling anything thrown it's way. For the beyond very reasonable value for the money and the basic materials used to make this watch I would happily buy again, I did change the original green strap it came with and replaced it with an Altera strap from desertcart, which is a taupe color mix of grey and beige that fits beautifully with the overall aesthetics of my new Timex watch, a Happy satisfied customer and would definitely recommend this watch to anyone.

**Q: Is it loud?**
A: I can hear our living room clock 15 feet away, now that’s loud…which, by the way, totally drowns out whatever noise my Timex might be making 6” away in my wrist.

**Q: How does this watch stand up to outdoor use?**
A: I purchased this Timex Expedition here on Amazon the summer of 2015. I wore it daily as I worked my land. It took a licking and just broke after almost 8 years. Before this other watches would only last a year. I'm back to buy another Expedition.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

**Q: Good first watch for a teenager? For a present will it fit small wrists?**
A: Check the band, most Expeditions have holes nearly all around, & so should fit even a slim-wristed teen just fine. You can trim off the excess for now, & get a new band if you outgrow this.

**Q: How do you change the date? There doesn't appear to be a middle setting and going around a 24 hour cycle doesn't do it either.**
A: You have to go forward with the time setting, 24 hours for each day. I just reset mine this weekend to the correct date.

Just recently bought the Timex expedition scout T49961 field watch and am overly excited about this purchase since it's my first ever Timex watch. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fine but flawed. Good but not great.

Overall a nice watch. You get solar power in a Timex 40mm field watch format at a good price. You give up Indiglo backlighting for the solar option. The seconds hand is not colored right and blends into the background of the dial being almost the same color but without any contrast on the hand or tip. The hour and minute hands are adequately lumed for casual use in the dark. The older you get the harder they will be to see. The finish is gray or gunmetal coated, not brushed or bead-blasted. 40mm is a good compromise case size for those with large or small wrists. The crystal is mineral glass which is middle of the road but expected for a $50-$75 watch. The tan leather strap color will be a matter of personal choice. I think it’s too light colored for a field watch and will quickly stain, but was soft and comfortable to wear. Tan or khaki synthetic materials tend to be more resistant to stains and water damage and easier to clean or wash. I think the case size and shape will fit the majority of owners very well, the solar charging is convenient, and the style is bland but inoffensive and traditional.
