When fully packed for plane ride, the pack was heavy but the zippers and materials stood the challenge. Though it's large, it folds up into it's own smallish pouch. I carry it in my suitcase, when I travel, in the event I am told my bag weighs too much. All I have to do is pull this out and fill it with things to bring the weight of my main bag down. If I'm carrying a purse, it goes in there, too, so I still only have the one carry-on. Once I am where I'm going, it gets put to use on day trips and trips to market or the grocery store. It's super light weight but sturdy. The shoulder straps are wide and comfortable and easily adjustable. The only thing bogus about it is the whistle.
