I also use it year round for white noise and to keep the room cool which is essential for quality sleep
This fan is a keeper. I've been using window fans for a years and they have saved my life during the summer months. I also use it year round for white noise and to keep the room cool which is essential for quality sleep. When I tried to buy it last winter it was not in stock on Amazon or Walmart and because it was off season the price was high. I purchased the Expandable Twin Window Fan instead and what a huge mistake. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VNCHYV2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1It was broken within 5 months so I finally saw this back in stock and got it. The Holmes fan is great; you can reverse it; (which I've never done) but I use it at night to draw in cool air into a hot bed room. I always use high. This thing is powerful unlike other fans, and it immediately will cool the room down significantly.Let's face it; some people can be pretty anal and different and change isn't their thing so if there is any noise in the room they get nervous and can't sleep. if that is you and you still want a fan, put it in and get ear plugs because if you use a window fan in hot months you will sleep like you never have before. It also saves a ton of money. I have two friends that now swear by these when before they were using the air conditioning for most of the night and that is expensive; very expensive. Now they pop in the window fan into their room and their kids room and it's sleepy time. For safeties sake, I use a small window lock on the metal frame of the window at the bottom to lock in the window when I use the fan. It gives me piece of mind to help against break-ins.PRO's:-Cost-powerful-two speeds-durable-light weight but built well-works great!!-will fit almost any size windowCON's:-some will say it's noisy but it's more like white noise. No more uncomfortable summer nights of sleep. This is a staple in our home.

Holmes Duo Window Fan is an Affordable Mighty Multi-Tasker!
I purchased two of these fans because they were priced well and being early fall in Texas, want a reprieve from the high ac bill. I used one to blow air out of a room that had an antique dresser we purchased that smells the holy hell of mold. We cannot get it out of the room due to its weight and size and have tried nearly everything to remove the smell. This fan turned backward will pull the air out of the room and can make any room fresh again! Did I mention setting the fan up is a breeze? See what I did there? Basically, the fan is ready to straight out of the box! It even comes with a free extention piece for wider windows like mine! My favorite feature is the fins for your window to help lock the fan into place. The fan can be a little loud on high if you are sitting or laying next to it. Just crank your TV volume up 4 to 5 notches to drown it out. I've found it works really well if you help create a cross breeze by using your fan and opening/cracking a window across the room. Another thing about that cross breeze- place your fan in the window in the direction of the breeze and not against for the best cooling and so you don't burn out your motor. Rain-they are waterproof. Mine ran through a thunderstorm and survived. They had an evaporator cooler effect. Not that I suggest unless your window is covered to keep the water out. Or maybe make your own evap cooler by placing a bucket/long pan of ice water in front of the fan...allowing the air to blow over the ice water. All-in-all I really like the two we purchased that we found a couple on clearance at Target this weekend and picked up two more! Then my sister used my portable mini carpet cleaner on her truck seats and tossed the fans into the truck windows to help dry the interior faster so she could get back on the road. Handy fans to have! P.S. I'm adding to say that I've used the fan in my crafting room while using epoxy (fan turned backward to draw the air out) and then turned forward on low while my cups were drying to help with the curing process.

Perfect (Except for Possible Concerns About Current Quality?)
In my opinion, this is the ideal window fan. Simple and clean design, separate controls for left and right, easily switches from intake to exhaust, no annoying LED light, and no unnecessary electronic remote control to have to keep track of.The first one I bought is quiet and has run perfectly all summer, every summer, for six years β still going strong.Unfortunately, the second one I bought three months ago was louder from the start, the left fan developed a rattle after only a few weeks, and the whole thing just stopped working, apropos of nothing, in the middle of last night. Sudden silence. No storm, no surge, the other things on the outlet are fine. Maybe itβs just a single dud?

7 Years Old and Still Going.
Bought this window fan in 2017. Used it every summer in my kitchen since. I was thinking of replacing, until I saw the price of a new one. Only want to replace because it is dirty. I hoped by now they were made easier to keep clean. Hard to clean, but it can be done. I will keep what I have, it still works great.
