But my friend does successful, expressionistic ink washes in one and looks like has no issues with buckling, running, or breaking up. The paper is very good to excellent quality and there are a lot of pages. A popular rival does pads with heavier paper, but for my purposes, it was worth the trade-off to switch to these: Also a lot fewer pages due to thickness of rival paper. The bookmark and elastic closure are very useful and practical. I wouldn't go back to pads without them. It has an off white paper which I have used to paint and draw in fineliners, ballpoints, gouache and watercolor (as long as its not too wet a wash). It's not good for alcohol markers though as these bleed through.
