If you're shopping in this price range (mine was 19.99 for queen), you shouldn't expect luxury hotel quality. That said, the thing shouldn't be junk or it's not worth the time and effort and resources to make and ship it. So, for the money it's a value. A few things that knock stars off: 1. I ordered "Queen." The package I received had boxes for twin, full, queen, etc. Mine had "CK" ticked - whatever size CK is, apparently it's much larger than queen, as this thing hangs off both sides of the mattress. Not a deal killer, just odd. It does fit my 12" thick mattress no problem. 2. The photo makes you think those quilted channels will be puffy and cushy, they're not so much. They're pretty sparsely (but evenly) stuffed. I even let it sit unfolded a few days, then tossed it in the dryer to see if it would puff up a bit. Not really. Again, not a real deal killer for me, but be aware that padding shouldn't be first on your list if you're getting this one. 3. It does make some rustling and shwishing noises when you're putting it on, but it's not irritating at all, but it does make some sound when you're moving around - nothing irritating though. Again, not a big thing.All in all it, as of two nights in, seems like a good deal. I'm happy to be protecting my mattress and not at all unhappy with the purchase. Usually one from Walmart. This one is the best I’ve ever had. It’s soooo soft. My bed feels so plush & cozy. My mattress is 9 years old but feels brand new thanks to this. The price is unbeatable too. I tried this because of the row pattern opposed to the diamond pattern I’ve always gotten. Those weren’t as soft & they always bunch up when you wash them. I haven’t washed this yet but I’m curious to see if it’ll do better. I tried a couple of the thin style and couldn't be sure they were truly waterproof rather than water resistant. I also wanted more of a mattress pad feel to improve comfort.. I was delighted that this mattress pad meets all needs.because the bottom layer is the waterproof layer, it slips on the mattress a little bit but it's skirt is very generous and easily fit my 16-inch mattress. Once the fitted sheet was added, I felt no movement from the pad. When taking it out of the package it sounded a little crinkly, but that was not a problem when I slept on it. It is comfortable with no sounds. It didn't make me hot. It hasn't gone through the leaky diaper test yet but it did not leak when I poured some water on it.
