**Q: Can you calibrate this thermometer to 32 degrees in an ice bath?**
A: no to my knowledge but I did not try

**Q: Can you carry these thermometers through your bag at the airport**
A: Hmm, good question, but never had the need to, so sorry can't advise. But, it is very sharp and contains small electronics, could flag a response.

**Q: Can this be used to measure oil temp?**
A: Yes

**Q: What is the point of the hold feature?  why would i hold a temperature?**
A: Holding temp is the temp at which food is supposed to be kept at. Example, for cold food FDA standard is 41 degrees. So the holding temp feature on the thermometer is a temp that can be set, in this case, 41 degrees. If the temp rises above 41 degrees the thermometer will start beeping as a warning.
