Like other lawns in my neighborhood, my grass has yellow/brown dormant areas due to drought conditions. A neighbor successfully hid his lawn's brown spots using commercially produced spray-on lawn paint. I decided to do it too, but to save money I made my own green dye.I filled a 5 gallon bucket with water. Then added 1.5lbs of Epsom salts, some water soluble plant food, 4 ounces of green food coloring, and a couple ounces of liquid dish soap. I stirred it thoroughly before pouring into my garden pump sprayer.Overall I made fifteen gallons of the mixture. All the yellow-brown patches were sprayed twice. It took a couple hours to cover all the affected areas. The next day I irrigated the grass as usual and was happy to find that watering the lawn does not affect the green dye.Dormant grass doesn't grow, so the dyed areas should last a few weeks. From a distance the lawn looks alive and green; Up close I can tell it was dyed. However, the overall appearance is better and I'm very happy with the results. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I use this to dye chalk *by C***Y on September 10, 2021* Great greenish bluefish color. I dye chalks with this food coloring. I was pleasantly surprised when I got a bit of blue in the green.
