## Description

Headstone Circus was formed in 1966 by Glenn Faria (who also released some solo music on World in Sound). This beautiful album was recorded between 1968-1970, and on the first spin it is reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - four-way street electric sides. Well-composed, well-performed, and in line with some of the better Neil Young albums, with an extra weird touch. "Around 1966, Nick Bonis, Mike Johnstone, Randy Pope, and I formed a psychedelic band. On Halloween night we went to an old cemetery, dropped acid, and spent a very strange night among the tombstones. The tombstones appeared to be melting and taking on animal shapes. Some of US saw spirits, and I'm not sure what I saw, but it was disturbing. Afterwards, we referred to that night as the 'Headstone Circus.' It seemed appropriate to call ourselves Headstone Circus as a band so we did." Enjoy this amazing West Coast album which was recorded in Washington D.C.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars

    West Coast acid drift

Some say that the band was formed by the singer Glenn Faria in 1966, but others insist that he joined already estbalished musicians - Mike Johnston (lead), Nick Bonis (bass), Randy "Ray" Pope (drums), and with the arrival of pretty strong vocalist the've drifted from hardcore psychedelia towards more mild and acceptable West Coast sound. Anyway, between 1968 and 1970 the band recorded several quality mainstream tunes based on beautiful vocal harmonies (but not sweet)- similar to Crosby, Stills & Nash, or best of Neil Young. However, acid trips left a deep impact on their minds, and that's why - quite unexpectedly - the band comes with minimalistic hard'n'heavy of "You don't know" (could be on any of early Grand Funk albums) or with Jethro Tull-style "Healer". Genuine and good album

Dal punto de vista musicale è eccellente, un suono rock- psichedelico con armonie vocali somigliante a Crosby Stills Nash. Anche molto belli i pezzi acustici. Il servizio di consegna ottimo.

    West Coast drifting on acid

"Headstone Circus" is another classic rock band which deserved a better destiny, but went into obscurity instead. Some say that it was formed circa 1966 by the singer Glenn Faria, while others insist that Glenn Faria joined the core of the band (Mike Johnstone - lead guitar, Nick Bonis - bass, Randy "Ray" Pope - drums), and with his arrival the music of the band shifted from strong psychedelia towards more mild and acceptable songs which remind the best of Crosby, Stills & Nash and/or Neil Young. Up to a certain extend it's a West Coast "mainstream" built on beatiful vocal harmonies (the voices are masculine, not immature boyish singing). At the same time, the musicians are still looking into other direction - few tracks ("You don't know") are very much in line with early Grand Funk (and well done!), while "Healer" reminds Jethro Tull. The album was recorded between 1968-1970 in Washington and, generally speaking, this is what is left from the band.Collector's item - from "Shadocks"
