Review: Perfect for my home network and cable modem - Within one week of buying this , I lost power in the house but this unit keep the PC and cable modem and VoIP phone going for 15 minutes. I have always liked TrippLite products. I have a line conditioner that I bought ten years ago to keep the voltage in line when the AC of the house kicks in. I do not use the software. I just wanted it as a reliable UPS. It worked perfect. For the price , I also bought another one for my wife's parents. One suggestion, it is not designed to handle a large laser printer. Keep that unit plugged into another outlet. Review: Excellent UPS and Customer service that you can talk to - and understand. - I can't really say that I love it yet as I have only had it installed and working for about 1 week. But I have plugged it in and plugged in my computer, monitor and two inkjet printers into the battery backup plugs. I have also plugged a couple of other items into the surge protected plugs and so far have not had a brown-out for a test. The software is a different story - I downloaded the Windows version for this UPS from their website, but could not get it to run and open the control panel. After calling their support and talking to a very helpful and knowledgeable gentleman, still nothing worked, but I remember that he had said something about needing to have a current version of Java installed. Bingo! Sure enough, my Java was ancient - like over one year old. I went to Oracle's website and using their routines, uninstalled the older version of Java and installed the new, rebooted my computer and checked - sure enough the new version of Java was installed. Then went back into the TrippLite folder and activated the control panel. Hooray ! It came up and was monitoring the UPS as intended. Now that everything is working, I can keep up with power fails without worry. ## Features - 750VA/450W power capacity; compact mini-tower design - Automatic voltage regulation, battery backup and surge protection - 6 AC outlets (3 UPS/surge, 3 surge only); tel/Ethernet (RJ45) line protection; 6-ft cord - USB communication port and FREE PowerAlert software (Web download) - $200,000 Ultimate Lifetime Insurance; 3-year warranty ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0001B7CUO | | Amperage | 16 | | Battery Cell Type | Wet Alkali | | Best Sellers Rank | #725 in Computer Uninterruptible Power Supply Units | | Brand | TRIPP LITE | | Built-In Media | SMART750 UPS System; USB cable; Instruction manual | | Color | Black,Gray | | Connector Type | NEMA | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars (27) | | Enclosure Material | Metal, Copper, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) | | Form Factor | Tower | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00037332119940, 10037332119947 | | Input Voltage | 120 Volts (AC) | | Item Dimensions | 5.24 x 7.48 x 10.75 inches | | Item Weight | 16.4 Pounds | | Manufacturer | Tripp-Lite | | Maximum Power | 450 Watts | | Mfr Part Number | SMART750USB | | Model Number | SMART750USB | | Number of Outlets | 6 | | Output Current | 3.75 Amps | | Output Voltage | 120 Volts (AC) | | Output Wattage | 450 Watts | | Power Plug Type | Type B - 3 pin (North American) | | Runtime | 2 minutes | | Specification Met | UL 508, UL 497A | | UPC | 999992788341 037332119940 037332099853 777786384944 763615982122 999993680477 | | Unit Count | 1.0 Count | | Voltage | 120 Volts | | Wattage | 450 watts | ## Product Details - **Battery Cell Composition:** Wet Alkali - **Brand:** TRIPP LITE - **Color:** Black,Gray - **Material:** Metal, Copper, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) - **Voltage:** 120 Volts ## Images ![SMART550USB 550VA 300W UPS Battery Back Up Tower AVR 120V USB RJ11, 6 Outlets - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81NhNuANxVL.jpg) ![SMART550USB 550VA 300W UPS Battery Back Up Tower AVR 120V USB RJ11, 6 Outlets - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51s8kxGJ4NS.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Style** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: How many batteries does this UPS take?** A: This particular UPS takes 3 batteries, not 1 or 2. I just replaced them in one of these and have the old ones (all 3) sitting in front of me. Tripp Lite's brochure for this UPS says 36 volts. That's 3 12 volt (RB1290) batteries. **Q: Can this be used with a standard us plug? i didn't realize the unit used a l5-30p plug - is an adapter to a 'regular' usa plug safe?** A: We purchased the Tripp Lite SMART1050; not the 3000. The 1050 does plug into a regular USA socket. I know nothing about the 3000 model. The seller may be able to help you out on this one. Or you can go to their website & get your answer. **Q: Where is the 550 model manufactured?** A: Thanks for reaching out about the B022-U08. The B022-U08 is manufactured in Taiwan. As with all Tripp Lite products it is made with high quality materials and has strict QA processes. If you’d like to talk through your application, you can always reach out to our Chicago-based Presales Applications Team at 773-869-1773 (M-F 8AM-6PM Central) or presaleshelp@tripplite.com. **Q: Does this ups have a fan? if so, how loud is it?** A: No. There is no fan. The unit has 4 large batteries. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for my home network and cable modem *by T***N on January 13, 2009* Within one week of buying this , I lost power in the house but this unit keep the PC and cable modem and VoIP phone going for 15 minutes.
