They are not, however, the colors shown in the listing. I specifically purchased this set over a less expensive set because all the colors--in all the photos--were lighter in color, not your standard primary colors (and white, of course.) Turns out I could have saved some money. They are the primary colors after all. Disappointed! It makes it difficult to write on them with just any pen. Permanent ink markers do not adhere very well and look spotted.
