Jaffarian starts off with a bang, a dead body found in the home where Madison Rose is living with vampire couple Doug and Dodie Dedham. This is not the last dead body to appear.This is not a traditional mystery in that there is not simply one detective, and even though Madison is the star, several other characters have very major roles. Madison learns more about vampire culture and ways, and she does get to show her sleuthing smarts with a few well-placed phone calls and snooping. Jaffarian makes the various subplots and erotic moments as thrilling as finding out who's behind the murders.
