I have 170 watt lives on top of my ungaraged van year round snow ,ice ,etc. they also make the best controllers .this keep my fridge freezer running year round in my vw also have same stuff in my arctic fox camper . you would not believe how many people on the samba vw forum have burnt there expensive classic vw to a crisp using cheep solar controllers and wiring . **Q: How do these perform for two 6 volt batteries wired in Series in a 26' RV?** A: they maintain 4 125 MGP 12 Volt batteries well boon docked at a race track cut generator operation to a minimum very good product I will buy again **Q: I pull the batteries and put them on a tender during the cold months of winter. Should I cover the solar panel and/or do anything with the controller?** A: Currently we do not have any direct recommendations to cover the panel as this is not a necessity. With the batteries disconnected your controller will display an error and stop any charge from the panel from moving forward. My Northwood Nash Travel Trailer came with a 20 watt solar panel and an additional port on the roof to add another panel. As the trailer was setup with and for ZAMP, I decided to just stick with Zamp...they aren't cheap, but the quality of Zamp controllers and panels is OUTSTANDING. Installing this panel was super easy and FAST! Took no time at all to plug it into the port and mount it on the roof. A little Dicor on the mounts where they meet the roof and we're up and running.
