MW Polar's Black Garlic is aged and cured to perfection with no additives or preservatives. It only contains one ingredient- garlic. While being cured in controlled heat chambers, the garlic undergoes the Maillard reaction transforming the garlic completely. And you’ll be back for more… This isn’t like raw garlic, it isn’t like roasted garlic. It’s roasted garlic on steroids, and something else… something undefinable. I tried some of this ‘as is’ which could have been a mistake but fortunately it didn’t scare me away. It’s got the texture of a gummy bear, and it’s sweet but has an almost anise flavor, almost. On the verge of tasting like black licorice, but not quite (and I hate black licorice and anise). So do not let that scare you away. I used this in an aioli (fancy mayo) on bison burgers, and it was stupid-good. Last time I mixed up ground beef for beef patties, I sliced up whole cloves of black garlic and mixed thin slivers inside the patties. Sautéed them with mushrooms and green peppers (I mean, how mundane, right?) and MAGIC happened. Seriously. The sweet/savory slivers melted into the veggies, thickened the juices… I’ve made that 4 times since for my husband and myself. I added shaved bits to my red spaghetti sauce. It was the best sauce I’ve ever made. I added some to deviled eggs (discolors the yolks, so you’ve been warned). I blended a clove into my favorite vinaigrette for a caprese salad – it enhanced the fresh basil. I was mixing butter with thyme for steaks and added some minced black garlic to that… used it on New York Strips the next evening. It was almost spiritual. Stuffed chicken breasts with a mix of boursin cheese and black garlic, fresh chives. And the ultimate: Added to onions when caramelizing. No, that’s not the ultimate. I’ve yet to find the ultimate. I don’t like it plain, and I wouldn’t add it to fruit, but that’s just me.

**Q: Why are so many people worried about this product coming from china? they grow and sell the most garlic and they sell a lot of it to the usa.**
A: There have been multiple reports of additives, poisons, and undesirable farming practices in China, specifically with garlic. Personally, I only buy fresh garlic grown in the US, and try to find other garlic products not grown in China.

**Q: How long does this last in storage?**
A: The container is well-sealed and pretty sturdy. If you're storing it in a cool, dark place, I'd say a year (maybe even longer, but I don't know what their expiration date is). I normally stock up when there's a price drop, so I store 2-3 containers at a time. I've never had a bad container or clove. Once opened, mine is still perfectly fresh for 2-3 months, but it rarely lasts that long!

A: 1 jar with around 5 or 6 garlics.

I love this black garlic. You get a really good amount for the price. The peels come right off so it’s easy to use. I love the sweetness of Black garlic but beware it’s very pungent. It’s definitely garlic but not like like eating cloves of regular roasted garlic tastes. I love to mash it with a little balsamic vinegar and dipping oil and spread on toasted baguette. I also add it to pasta. I’m going to be making some salad dressing with it soon. I will have to order more soon since I’m going through it quickly!
