My 18-month-old was showing interest in letters and sounds, and she is a very physically-oriented child (like most toddlers!), so this sounded like it might work. I didn't expect much at first because she was so young, but oh my gosh, it worked right away. Each letter is pictured as an animal, and there is a little story and an action to accompany each one. For example, A is an alligator, and the story tells about how he gets angry, and then you teach the child to shake their fists and shout the ah-ah sound. My daughter loved the little exercises, and there were certain ones she remembered right away and others that she could recall with prompting. We've been using this on-and-off as it appealed to her for a year now, and she often recognizes letters on a public sign or in a book and makes the sound and action totally unprompted. She will also grab the book and go through the pages on her own and make the sounds and actions.
