Review: A decent , but pricey case - This case does what it's advertised to do and keeps my phone safe. What I like about this case and particularly the Otterbox Symmetry series in general is it's one-piece design and use of hard plastics to withstand hard drops and rubber to help dissipate that shock away from the phone. There is a decent lip around the top and bottom of the case and the lip is the same material as the inside rubber, but the sides are left lowered to account for the curved screen on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The top and bottom lips are tall enough to accommodate my glass screen protector. That is the fault of Samsung and not Otterbox. The cutouts are also very generously sized and my wide fingers are able to plug in my headphones, charger, and access my S-Pen very easily. Cutouts for the speaker and mic holes are decent as well. The fingerprint and camera cutout is also nicely chamfered so that my finger slides and finds the sensor easily. The buttons are covered in that same rubber material as the lip, and are tactile/easy enough to press and actuate. Some tradeoffs are how wide they make the phone. The thicker edges provide more protection for the phone, but sometimes my hands have trouble reaching the top and bottom corners of my screen. In addition, installing and removing the phone from the case can be difficult at times. The case is REALLY rigid and can take some force to remove and install the phone, so be careful. Also the price is not that competitive. Gone are the days of Otterbox cornering the the premium case market. Brands like Spigen and Ghostek are making cases of equal or greater quality at a fraction of the price with equal and even better support. I would not pay more than $20 for this case or for any other phone design especially with the amount of competition in this space. Overall, it's a case that does what it says it will do, but is a little pricey and better deals can be found elsewhere. Review: 1 year of abuse, still looks and functions like new - Ordered it in black for Note 9 - the fit and color are perfect. This case offers great protection and provides a nice grip for the hands. Most importantly, I never think about it. I put it on my phone a year ago and forgot about it because there is no damage and nothing has come loose or shown signs of wear with time. It's great quality and just feels like a part of my phone at this point. It's the best phone case I've owned. I'm rough with my phone. I'm often tossing it around and dropping it. I did not like the way the symmetry line from otterbox fit my Galaxy S8+, though it honestly fit very well I found much stiffer competition as far as cases go for the S8+. With the Note 9 I've found my favorite cases to have been lacking in one area or another. This case is the first and only out of 7 I've used that I cannot find any fault with. It fits perfectly, it looks really nice and i'm as positive as one can be that this thing is super protective. Overall there is nothing more I can ask out of a case and I've got to give this one a full 5 stars and recommendation. Note that for no logical reason I typically dislike the "big name", high price, popular brands regardless and as nice as Otterbox has always been I have always found a legit if not a little picky issue with all their previous cases I have bought for every device I've owned. This one in particular and in direct comparison to it's best competition is one I cannot say anything bad about. I've tried but it really is the best case I've had as of yet for my Note 9 and i do not foresee that changing.
