I wear a size 11-12 Wide shoe and there’s plenty of stretch across the metatarsals and the heel actually hits where my heel is without making my toes confined. But putting the sock on takes a lot of work to get it over the heel; wow is it lacking stretch around the ankle section of the sock. But they are not binding, they don’t slip down and they are comfy all day long. As a diabetic I appreciate the fact it doesn’t bind and cause indents around the calf so I do recommend this sock. I’ve washed these on warm and tumble dried them and they’re just fine; they actually are softer too. They do take extra time to dry. Nobody will ever make the mistake of wearing the socks inside-out because there are hundreds of threads inside the sock. Normally I hate this because it ravels, runs and gets caught on the toes but so far the threads are tight and there’s no issue. We’ll see over time if this holds up. Colors do not run and they are a nice thickness. I enjoy walking around in these because they are slightly padded, warm and cushy soft on my feet. I recommend these to sock haters, diabetics, and people with big and wide feet. They did shrink and become slightly tighter after washing and drying. However it does. It stop me from continuing to wear them. I think if your foot is a size 9 they will be too small.. **Q: I have wide feet so very thick woman winter socks make my shoes too tight, are these woman winter socks much thicker than "normal"?** A: I also have wide feet, and I'm a little on the heavy side. Some of the socks fit well and some are tight across the top of the foot opposite the heel. **Q: Can someone with large feet say how flexible the sizing is? I'm 11-WW and a lot of 'standard' size woman winter socks just don't work.** A: I wear an 11 (sometimes larger depending on brand) wide. The width of the sock is great and has the flex for a wider foot across the metatarsals and the middle of the foot. The stretch however isn’t great and it takes some work to get the sock on because it’s a bit tight in the ankle making it hard getting it over the heel with my big feet. But once on, they are very comfortable. I bought 3 brands of wools socks at the same time and this brand has, over time become my favorite even though it’s a pain to get on over the heel. The issue is it lack stretch in the ankle so getting it over the heal is a problem; it you have a large ankle, I wouldn’t recommend this sock at all. I’ve washed them and tumbled dried too, and they fit the same. Additionally, I’m diabetic and they are not tight, they do not fall down, and they are the only sock I want to wear all day; normally I go barefoot! **Q: where are socks made?** A: Have no idea where they are made...but they are quality socks for the price.
