The platform lists to one side because there is only one chain to support it. It is not a problem with our assembly- the mechanism comes preassembled. The design to lock the chain in one position is incredibly poorly engineered. The bolt is far too small for the hole it is supposed to go into. The company must recognize this problem, as they included an extra instruction sheet giving a work around for securing the chain in a different way.Luckily, my husband is handy, and we will be able to concoct a way to make the platform stable, but this really shouldn't be necessary.I do not recommend this product, even for the casual sewer. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not a great surface area, but nice cabinet *by P***L on October 20, 2015* I bought this for my daughter who needed a sewing cabinet/table. Her husband put it together and it didn't take long. The problem I have is that it did not come with a piece that covers the hole when the machine sits on the shelf so that the top is a solid surface to sew on .They are going to cut a piece of plexi glass to fit around the machine so that the surface is solid.
