**Q: Do the mantles still contain Thorium Dioxide? Does it say anything about heavy metals/radioactivity on the packaging?**
A: Thorium Nitrate is what most mantles are dipped in newer ones use yttrium or cerium.  

When burned the first time the thorium is changed to thorium oxide, and this is what you see when you use your light.  It has basically been converted from nylon webbing to ceramic.  

An inch away from a thorium mantle and you’re at background radiation so the radioactivity at the actual mantle is near negligible (still there but not harmful).

**Q: I have an old model 231 dual mantel colman lantern. On the lantern it recommend to use 21A mantels. Would these fit?**
A: Yes, the #21 Sock style filament would be the replacement part needed for the Coleman Sock Tie-Style Mantle you mentioned.

**Q: How long does it burn?**
A: The cloth of the mantle burns away very quickly leaving the ash which is what makes the light. The ash will last as long as it isn't disturbed, so with a little care it can provide light for many hours.

**Q: If I want the dark green color carrying case, is it available and can it be assured?**
A: This is the wrong listing, but if you are referring to the green "lantern case," the color in the listing is generally random. If you are referring to the coleman fuel carrying case, it is only available from Japan Amazon and is green.
