I was really impressed with the quality for the price, especially with it being a 2-pack! I wasn't and am still not sure what exactly Nylon Plastic Steel is, but I can say that it is SERIOUSLY hard. I tested a blow on a cheap wooden door and punctured two holes with ease. I haven't had to use these in a self defense situation but I am extremely confident that with these, and knowing how to throw a proper punch, you'd be increasing your odds tremendously. Certainly not a toy, but my fiance loves the cat face and her initial response was, "Oh, that's cute" and then immediately into, "Oh, wow! That'll certainly even the odds."
