(would two 600s be overkill for a 4x4 tent)** A: I have one p450 in a 4x4 tent and it really isn't enough. I called the platinum company and they said that one would work but two would be even better. two 600s would be overkill. I just bought another 450 and it is perfect having two in my 4x4 tent. keep in mind as they explained to me you may have to redo your watering schedule and not water as often. with leds you have less heat in the tent so you may not have to water as often. platinum is very good about answering any questions you may have. if you do two 450 in a 4x4 it will kick butt. **Q: does this led light actualy use 450watt** A: Hi Chris.. The actual power draw of this light is around 260w with both switches on. The 450w designation comes from the fact that there are 150 x 3w diodes which equals 450w. The problem is that wattage of LED grow lights is expressed both ways by manufacturers both in "max" and "average/actual" and there's no one way to express it. As such, we need to display the "max" since that's what most other manufacturers are doing. We always list the actual power draw as well. NOW>> VERY VERY IMPORTANT>> Please remember that wattage draw does NOT dictate the final growing power at ALL. What matters is the actual PAR value that the light emits.. which is physically how bright the light is. You can have two lights that draw the same or similar amount of power and one can be WAY brighter than the other. It's not the watts.. it's the PAR and spectrum. In fact, we have a comparison video that shows this where we compared the P450 to another light that draws more power and uses 5w LEDs.. yet puts out around half the PAR with an inferior spectrum. It's very, VERY important to choose wisely when it comes to these lights as the differences are very real and will pay you back many times over if you choose correctly. This review will be based upon: quality, performance and customer service (not getting into price, well because, you get what you pay for, Literally!!).I purchased the P450 to fill the void in my tent. The light is much like the others, well constructed, the packaging is secure & sound upon arrival. These lights function as described by the owner of Platinum on YouTube. The lights in Veg emit a cooler color spectrum (blues/greens/whitish) just what the plants seek out (unlike other LEDs, which are heavy dominant in red, which is great for bloom, but not complete). Having the ability to offer the plant both Veg/Bloom and both together, is called DIVERSITY, and who doesn't like options. I know the plants do. I've had these lights running next to a KIND X3-H10 model, and the plants are happier under the Platinums. I mean, it's not even close......So onto customer service: Since the day I inquired about the light(s), through today, I can still get in touch with the owner, with a phone call, or a very quick response via email. That in itself is worth it. Mark is a very responsive to questions and concerns alike. As a business owner myself, to be able to connect with your customers, quickly and effectively is priceless imo. The company offers a great 5 year warranty (granted I have yet to need it or use it, and hope I never have to,,,,,,,, but, I know, Mark will resolve it accordingly).Overall, great product, clearly a tier above the rest of the wanna be's out there regarding LED offerings. There needs to be more precaution when dealing with these items AMAZON! The first light came with a obvious corner damage and a screw rolling around. The second had rows of the lenses off and rolling around. The hassle of getting and explaining you troubles to people in an oversea call center is a nightmare! They respond with automated responses and never feel like they understand my questions .About the light.. It seems to be working great right now! The extra red from the flower is awesome. It runs quiet and seems to do the job. However I do not think that it is any better than some cheap other ones. From what I have seen and researched is that these are drop from China and then platinum slaps there casing around it and charges an arm and a leg. They are helpful and will respond to email quickly so I do give them that! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good investment! *by K***Y on December 18, 2017* I read countless reviews before taking a leap of faith and getting two of these for my 5X5 set up. They were packaged exceedingly well and are solid quality units with quiet fans. After getting all the conditions correct with temperature and humidity and finding the sweet spot from my seedlings they started growing like weeds on the veg setting alone. Once they're ready for me to hit the bloom switch I anticipate great things! Their service and warranty speaks volumes I would at this time highly recommend these lights and this company they even answer any questions you may have quickly!!! I'm using 2 of these lights in a 5x5 tent and get good coverage b. But considering a p300 yo fill any gaps.. plants indeed respond to these lights they raise theirs leaves rght up towards the LED. My plant do well at veg then really take off when you hit Bloom. I'll be getting a p300. Three lights and excellent coverage.Okay I have been growing now for two months in a 5X5 tent and am impressed... Will be popping tomatoes and peppers for the garden using just the veg light on my two P450's in April. Cheap no..... On par with more expensive lights yes. Good investment folks...
