There's no significant difference in closeness. Yet the Gillette blades cost more than 10 X for minimal improvement. This is a much better way to shave and more responsible for the planet without all the plastic and packaging. Use a good razor. I use the Weishi butterfly and the Jaeger. Both do a great job as long as you keep the shave head angle to 45 degrees or slightly more and use a good lathering soap and brush. The blades are not designed for a course bristle beard, and do require a few days for your skin to acclimate. The blades last at least five uses or more and are durable. These blades do not cause irritation, ingrown hairs and other problems. I use a weishi butterly razor handle.
