The first volume shows how Hime Shiraki, a popular high schooler with a cutesy façade, gets forced to work for a cosplay salon after she accidentally injures the manager. While the premise itself seems fairly simple and quirky, there are some fairly engaging story threads being developed here, such as how Hime's coworker Mitsuki inexplicably hates her from day one, a mystery that, when solved, leads to additional questions. The characters initially come off as fairly unpleasant, from a girl who only cares about making everyone like her to the people who rope her into working at the café to a girl who can't seem to stand her, but as time goes on, they gradually develop and reveal more facets of their personality. For example, Hime's obsession with putting on a perfectly cute façade stems from what happened when others saw the "real" her and abandoned her. The volume ends with a fairly surprising twist, albeit one that is foreshadowed fairly effectively. Not only does it promise quite a bit of drama for the future, but it also causes previous scenes to be viewed in a new light.
