It's pretty heavy, so it's probably better for dogs. It started off pretty fast & both cats ran away! Then the younger cat, came around & started following it -- it took him a couple of sessions before he would venture to attack it. Our older cat was curious, but always kept her distance. It's been a few days since we've used it, so I'll try again, since they're more familiar now. It would also be nicer if it were smaller for cats & maybe 2 speeds, which might make the batteries last longer. When it drops off a step, it can turn itself off by hitting the off button. ### ⭐ Be careful!! *by C***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2019* This ball comes with covers that zip on. In less than an hour my French Bulldog puppy broke the tab of the zipper off and swallowed it. Fortunately she passed it without complications.
