Both times they dry up prematurely. What am I doing wrong?** A: Hi, thank you for your question. My hunch is that you might not have harvested them once they were done growing. It's important to remove all mushrooms from your kit when they are done growing because if left on the substrate they will dry out within a day’s time. If you want to grow your own mushroom variety, you wouldn't want to use our box. This substrate is inoculated with pearl oyster mushroom spores so that is what will grow. You are better off collecting your own substrate -- any cellulose rich material like coffee grounds, sawdust, etc -- and inoculating them with mushrooms of your choice.
