It is nice and compact in the shape of a doughnut. The case is lined with a soft velvety type material with a fixed inner middle core around which you have a spongy like material that can be removed. The watch is nicely stored on the outer perimeter around the spongy layer providing a snug fit. With the case closed the outer perimeter rises up from the centre as a sturdy cage shielding the watch inside from knocks and other things coming up against the case. The presentation pack the case comes in is also top notch. Not only do you get a case but you get a lovely cleaning cloth that I use to provide further protection for the crown. From the picture you will see I have bunched it over the centre core of top half of the case. In addition you get a belt clip to hook up the case to whatever you choose. All of these extras come in a nicely presented reusable plastic bag. A nice touch to boot.
