However, I’ve pulled my Jeep on 35 degree grade for 250 feet and only stopped to reset the line. I also set my Jeep against the front of my trailer and pulled my 9000lb tractor on to the trailer deck **Q: Would this winch hold up on a 4x4 4000lb tractor for logging** A: I am trying to do the same thing. The problem I am having is most tractors without changing to a heavy duty alternator.and adding an extra battery, you don't have much run time. If you are only going to skid 1 tree every hour and not more than 1 1/2 min. pulls, you might get by with it. I haven't seen any line pull amperage stat on the driver but prowinch 20k($1100), milemarker 18k($900), and the talon 18k($1200) by superwinch are the least amperage draw I have seen. If you are going to do more skidding than that, I would look into a 12000# hyd. winch by milemarker or prowinch. They will run about double rigged of electric but have 100% duty cycle. Ramsey Re12000($1200+) & Milemarker SEC12k( $520) would be good for 10" or smaller trees. Received winch in timely matter. FedEx wasn't happy about 135 lbs. Winch was installed on 2003 GMC Sierra 3500 pickup. Did require some modifications to truck to accommodate this winch mounted behind bumper. Made a custom winch mount to fit the dimensions of this winch. Winch is constructed of steel housings for motor and gear box with aluminum end cover plates and aluminum base mount plate. The base has 4 -12 mm mount holes and 4 - 10 mm mount holes. The 4 - 12 mm bolts are secured with 4 square nuts that fit in slots in the base. The 4 - 10 mm bolts are screwed directly into the aluminum base. I torqued the 12 mm bolts to 80 ft lbs and the 10 mm to only about 35 ft lbs because they screwed directly into aluminum housing. I found I had to remove one of the long roller fairlead rollers so I could get winch cable through it. The wire rope clamp was too large to fit through the fairlead. After installation I did do a drag test where I pulled cable out leaving 8 wraps on drum and then proceeded to do a dead pull of the 8000 plus pound truck. It did pull the truck with little effort from the 1st wrap on drum to 3rd wrap on drum. Bye the 4 wrap it was beginning to strain a little. I was impressed with the pull and the custom mount. The handheld remote seemed a little lite weight and I wonder if it is water proof. I installed the first one on a 93 k1500. The second one went on a 98 crew cab c2500. This thing is a beast!!! I had big brush guards/bumpers on both trucks. They installed easily within 30 minutes. The second one I bought had a cracked housing. It was the plastic housing for the solenoid. I contacted three manufacturer, they paid for shipping to send the winch back and shipped me a new one at no cost. No complaints what so ever.
