**Q: Is this a powered or passive subwoofer?**
A: Hello,
It is an un-amplified subwoofer, usually powered by the same amplifier that is powering the main speakers.

**Q: What are the connection options for this passive sub? Simply left and right speaker wires powered by an amp?**
A: This sub has dual voice coil‘s.  That means it will have a wire for both negative and positive for each voice coil totaling four wires that you can connect to one channel or two channels.   I highly recommend purchasing a dedicated subwoofer amplifier to hook up in addition to the receiver you use for your indoor/outdoor stereo speakers.

**Q: What is the best receiver to use with this. I’m not sure how to connect it. There are 4 connecting wires, to connect to a receiver.**
A: I personally used The Dayton Audio SA230 230W Subwoofer Amplifier (Black) (New).  It perfectly powers the subwoofer with absolutely  crisp and rich bass.  No mids come through it’s a true subwoofer amplifier.  The four wires means it has dual voice coil us use the directions in the documentation that comes with the subwoofer and connect all wires to one channel.

**Q: what type of connectors? and can it work with any amp, plus other speakers? Looking for a sub to accompany some other outdoors speakers. thanks!**
A: The wire from the subwoofer is just bare wire.  I paired this sub with Bose 251 outdoor speakers and I’m happy with the performance.  I’m using a 4ch 100w amp to drive all the speakers.
