A small Phillips. I always drill a 1mm pilot hole and put a bit of wax on the screw. It mitigates the screw heads shearing off. Hope that helps.. **Q: Would they be suitable to hinge 2 pieces of material each 3mm thick?** A: These little hinges would join material 3 mm thick, but fastening them to such a thin sheet is a problem, tiny screws might do it depending on the material. One idea would be to drill holes in the material and glue the hinges in place with a small amount of epoxy resin. Another idea would be to make tiny rivets from copper wire. You don’t state what the material is so I am having to imagine wood or plastic and am assuming it is a stiff material.
