Review: Great espresso in a small easy to use package - So far, I’m really impressed with this little espresso maker. It’s easy to use and clean, seems durable, and does make really good espresso. The unit comes with a base for filling with ground coffee and a base for use with prefilled pods. I have only used the ground coffee pod base. I grind fresh coffee beans (Peet’s) to a fine powder (note the manual says to use course ground but seems to work fine with fine 🤷‍♂️) and use the included small scoop to dump into the coffee pod and tamp with the bottom of the scoop. I boil water in a kettle and pour some in the collection cup to warm it and pour into the tank to the max line. When you place the cover on the water tank, ensure the hand pump is in the down locked position so when you release it it will prime with water. I pump slowly but it doesn’t seem to matter that much to me. The result is a bold flavored espresso with a (surprisingly) nice thick crema. Some of the common complaints are that the coffee comes out not as hot as some like and yeah, I wish it was a little hotter but preheating helps and you can immediately drink it when it comes out so I’m fine with that. One negative that I noticed is that there is a silicone flap between the base that holds the coffee pod and the water tank that doesn’t come apart (I think) and seems to stay wet/hold water When the rest of it is dry so could be an area for mold risk but haven’t had any issues yet. Is it as good as the best espresso I’ve had? No. But it is excellent and for the price, portability, and ease of use/cleaning, I’m going to use this little thing a lot!

Makes a decent shot of espresso, which is all I wanted to make my dirty Chai. I even purchased a second one to have at work. But after two months, the plunger is not working properly. It leaks water out of the top and no longer pushes the water through properly. So disappointing. :(

So far, I’m really impressed with this little espresso maker. It’s easy to use and clean, seems durable, and does make really good espresso. The unit comes with a base for filling with ground coffee and a base for use with prefilled pods. I have only used the ground coffee pod base. Easy and fast to use. Easy to clean. I like how I can use pods or ground coffee beans. Makes a decent shot of espresso, which is all I wanted to make my dirty Chai. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Makes a decent single-shot espresso!

I just received this and pulled two shots, pleasantly impressed! The little scoop provided is worthless, except as a tamper, barely holds 5.5g of fine ground coffee. So I used a scale to measure 7g coffee (espresso fine) into the basket ("Powder container", G per figure in manual). Might be able to get another 0.5 gram in at most, but I didn't want to push the limits right at the start. The MAX mark in the "water tank" is 2 oz, which would make for a watery shot, so I again used a scale and added a little more than 1 fl oz / 28g - I used 33g of boiling water since the coffee grounds will absorb some. One doesn't get much resistance from the plunger - the first five "pumps" drew no liquid into the bottom cup, but then gradually with the next 10-15 pumps, the water moved through. The plunger resistance never increased, I could only tell that all the water in the upper reservoir was done when the resistance got even less. Still, good to open and check. The resultant shot had lots of crema (see pics) and tasted good too - as good as a pull from a real espresso m/c, only with temp. loss. Cleanup is very straightforward too. The only downside is the coffee basket is so small, can't make a doppio in one go! Hence 4-star. Can't speak to using capsules (and won't, they're evil!) Instruction manual has some mysterious phrases such as "if the coffee doesn't grease" but you can figure out what they're trying to say. The maker comes with two clear rubber o-rings, but the manual makes no mention of these and I haven't bothered to figure it out what they're for. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with this, let's see how it holds up to regular use.
