The lip luster has an SPF of approximately 15 since it contains only titanium oxide. We are not marketing the lip luster as a product for full spectrum sun protection. We are striving to keep the product as natural as possible and currently the majority of the sunscreens on the market with full UVA and UVB protection are chemical based, except for mineral based sunscreens such as zinc-oxide and titanium oxide. We have had to strike a delicate balance with the addition of titanium oxide in the lip luster as you might already know that mineral based sunscreens tend to result in a white residue on the skin and such high amounts would take away from the other hydrating and anti-aging properties of the lip luster. Also of note, many European countries and even Hawaii have banned the use of chemical sunscreens due to concerns of damage to the coral reefs and concerns of the chemicals being absorbed in the body. If you want full sun-protection and not the anti-aging properties of hyaluronic acid, we recommend that you purchase a lip balm with SPF 50+ on the packaging to ensure that you get full protection.
