She went to it immediately after placing it on the floor. After some investigation she decided to make it her own. She lays on it and stretches out to scratch it. The sisal is thick and the edges are finished well. It has pads on the bottom to help it adhear to surfaces though it doesn't slip around on the carpet. It's very sturdy and a good size. My cat is on the smaller side (12-15 lbs), but I believe it could accommodate a larger cat as well. I stuck some velcro toys on it, and he liked stretching or jumping on them to get them back! I would recommend this to someone who needs scratching options for their kitty and versatility in its placement. Speaking from experience, it can be hard to have enough scratching posts in a smaller apartment. I've never had any issues with my kitty scratching up furniture or the couch, but I like the idea that it can be used for that as well.
