Review: impressively good all the way around - This device has way more features than the stock photos indicate, and each one is more detailed than the last, at first glance it seems simple enough, and for the price point, my expectations were low. Had my expectations been high, I'd still be blown away by how great this analyzer is! I'm a highly technical engineering type who loves to know the details of how and why things work or don't, in the world around me. This device so far has satisfied the need to visually analyze and see the RF environment at home and at work. It also has revealed other interesting/concerning things that I will be investigating now that I am aware of them. This device shows you the RF spectrum from about 50Hz to 2.5GHz roughly, due to the screen size the spectrum is split into about 5 views. The 2.4-2.5 GHz is most useful for WiFi and other 2.4GHz crosstalk when in spectrum analyzer mode. The device can scan from 50Hz to 10GHz, however, none of the view modes will display above 2.5GHz, however it does indeed detect and see that spectrum from 2.5GHz - 10GHz, but the information will only be available in the "Digital RF Activity" sub-mode of the "RF Activity" view mode, accessible via a short press and hold of the left arrow button. Main features: -Intuitive interface- for an interface that is monochrome and 4 buttons, it is surprisingly easy to use and understand its well thought out interface design. Basic navigation to switch view/functions is accessed via the back button, sub menus are accessed via short press and hold of the arrow keys, so usually 2 distinct sub-menus per view mode, and most preference options/values/navigation selection is done by a quick press of the power button. (though one or two options are selectable only by waiting a second for the sub-menu to automatically bring u back to the previous menu. -RF Spectrum View - Fantastic! useful, and responsive, split into several frequency range views -Signal meter- portrait view mode that shows an analog meter displaying detected signal strength , and useful to locate the strength of a detected signal in realtime so you can walk around and locate the direction it is coming from while pointing the device sensor end away from you. -EMF/EF 3-Axis Graph- This view mode displays the detected strengths of these fields in 3 line graphs in from 3seconds to current time in realtime. The icons next to the X Y and Z numeric values on the same view mode will allow you to triangulate the probable source of the detected fields by moving the device left to right horizontally, up and down vertically, and in or out (Z- axis) these axis of course depend on how you are orienting the device at the moment, but after a few seconds you'll quickly understand and get the hang of it. -EMF/EF detection & measurement - I don't have a device to verify accuracy of this, but as far as I understand it appears to be just as accurate and responsive as the other sensors. Can display in milliGaus and milliTesla values. -Landscape & Portrait- auto rotation of screen from one landscape to the other. Landscape to portrait rotation is only possible in the primary All-in-One view, however Portrait mode cannot flip like the landscape can due to the polarization/front of the sensors is pointing away from the button side of the device. The surprisingly useful features: -Manual- Short and sweet, not very detailed, will need to lookup the meanings behind the different acronyms and readings, especially when it comes to determining what values to set for the alarm in terms of what is safe or unsafe. However it is detailed enough to easily understand how to operate and configure the device in about 5 minutes. TLDR- read the manual, yes you can figure it out on your own probably, but it will take you at least 30 minutes when a 5minute read will make you an expert -Extremely long battery run time- I accidentally left the device on all day long, and when i picked it up in the morning the screen was still on and still collecting data! -Battery charging- No included charger, but thats okay, a USB A to USB mini (not micro) is fantastic, no one will be trying to steal your cord as its a less used standard now, and IMO is way more secure and durable and easy to plug in than micro will ever be. -Mini (not micro) usb port- used for both charging the device and for transferring data collected to a computer using the software and drivers at the link in the instruction manual that it comes with. -Digital RF Activity mode analyzes the entire spectrum scannable by this device, and interprets the bursts of signals and calculates a data throughput measured in bytes per second, which is extremely useful especially when trying to see if a device is transmitting data while off or in sleep mode, (spoiler: they transmit a ton with the phone screen off and locked) A quick test of throughput needed to transmit voice using the chromecast remote with built in microphone showed only about 8,000 or so bytes/second were needed for voice transmission for voice input on the google chromecast) so anything above this must be large data uploads, video, or higher quality audio. The highest I've seen was about 12mb/s which is 12,000,000 bytes/second while watching a video on youtube, which is odd, considering that this device will show the phone when it is transmitting, not when it is simply receiving data, if it were simply sending ack packets back I would expect it to be at most a few thousand bytes/second, not 12,000,000 bytes/second. So basically its a fascinating feature, be cautious when approaching this rabbit hole. -Case- Cheap looking body, but it is actually quite sturdy and durable, also it comes with a carrying case that is also quite durable despite at first glance looking like its a soft case, its actually rigid on the big sides, and soft onl the edges. Also comes with a wrist strap. -Alarm- Customizeable values for when to notify the user of excessive RF/EMF/EF above whatever value selected. The green LED on the front will flash in accordance with the activity triggering the alarm, and if the speaker is 'On' in the menu, the speaker will also beep with the activity above the selected threshold, there is no volume for the speaker it is only on or off and is around a 1kHz-audio piezoelectric beep type. Less used features: (but still neat) -RF Histogram, interesting, but generally not useful in any way that I can think of currently as it just shows a cumulative plot of detected signal strengths from about -108 to -40 or so dbm -Screen Contrast & inversion (dark modeish)- for viewing in different lighting conditions and angles, highly adjustable for the type of screen used. -Included USB mini to USB mini cable- I am unsure why this device came with a mini to mini usb cable, but it did, even though the manual indicates an included usb A to usb mini cable, which are easy and cheap to find if yours comes with the same cable. -EMF/EF- I still need to learn to determine how these readings effect electronics, health, etc. Apparently they can also be used to detect ghosts? I get the feeling the ghost detection thing is simply there to increase sales, and if it is possible to detect such things then I'm sure this device will be useful. However, if ghost hunting, the best thing to do is to be prepared to cast out any unwanted entities by calling upon the power of the Holy Spirit. It is also possible to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you more about such entities, especially if you feel like something is odd especially after interacting with any paranormal situations. -USB Data Upload- I've not used this feature yet, but am excited to try it out soon, the fact that a device at this price point can store data, let alone upload it for further inspection is like the icing on a cake, deliciously extra, yet also necessary to be able to consider this device to be a tool/equipment, and not a 'detector' or novelty gadget. Bottom line- if you are looking for entry level, entry price RF scan/analyzing, this is the device for you as it will prob last you well into professional level work thanks to its extensive and useful feature set. Anything priced below this is unlikely to be of any use, this device is on the side of the line labeled 'equipment' as it is everything that it needs to be to be considered 'professional' equipment and part of any kind of RF technician's basic toolkit. Additional rabbit hole- I am detecting 410-420MHz at levels around -70dbm pretty much anywhere I go, a frequency range that for its strength and consistent usage is questionable and suspicious, as signal levels drop off very rapidly on either side of this range, and is supposedly attributed to 3 letter agency using it to suppress or inhibit human mental abilities or spiritual connection. I'm an engineer, so I'm skeptical when I come across such information online, however, decide for yourself if you get this or any scanner to see if you see what I see. Bonus- according to the FCC, 410-420 MHz is owned by the federal government for use by law enforcement, military, and other federal and local trunked voice communications. They basically have a 14 page document detailing that the range in question is not in use, except for the occasional catastrophe, as any other use of this range should have moved to another range years ago. Exception- garage door openers use 410MHz, which are unlicensed users, extremely short momentary signals, and extremely intermittent, and thus unable to be attributeable to what is being detected. Also if you put a garage door opener and press the button next to this or other rf analyzers, you will see a very distinct signal trace compared to these signals that appear to be extremely elevated noise, but could potentially be something quite sinister (compared to innocent signals, as the government seems to be quite sinister especially these days, to the point of their doing the right thing is truly surprising and increasingly rare)
Review: Impressive by exclusive features. Very cost-effective - I bought this portable meter to check and monitor my personal environment, for home and on-the-go . So far, I am very happy for my purchase. It is beyond an EMF meter, it is a safeguard for your environment that visualizes the hidden danger in your daily life. This unit is loaded so many exclusive and advanced features, the best broad band EMF RF detector in the market in this price range. For less than $120, it can be used by both beginners and advanced users. I like to highlight some important/exclusive points for reference: 1. Dual application modes: the main unit can be used standalone, or the main unit can be used with PC (connected via USB cable) 2.Two power modes: use rechargeable/replaceable battery or use USB power 3. All-in-one display mode: after turning on the unit, all EMF,EF,RF reading shows up almost instantly, very convenient. The possible source also auto identified and shows up. No need to turn on knob or button something to get different kind of radiation reading. 4.Auto identify the radiation source: no matter where you go, the unit will tell you the major radiation source, such as a phone line, Wi-Fi etc. All other meters in the market do not have this feature, you have to know the radiation type prior to test it. 5.Multiple power Charge methods: no need to purchase and replace battery, just recharge it. It can be charged by USB port. The battery can be taken out for charging in am external charger. 6.While USB cable: this cable is not only charging the battery, but also transmit data between main unit and computer. Other models in the market, only use this cable for charging battery. 7.EMF 3-axis sensor measurement: this makes the reading is not directional, the readings come from X,Y,Z axis. Other cheaper EMF meters in market are all one axis sensor, not accurate at all. 8.RF frequency range up to 10GHz: very wide range, covers low band of 5G. The RF sampling rate is 4millon times per second. So far is the fastest RF sampling rate in the market in a similar price range. 9.Data saving capability: the meter integrated a real-time data logging system. It can record all data type(EMF,RF,EF) every second for about continually 20Hrs. 10.Data saving during sudden power down: the data will be stored and will not loss. 11.RF Browser. This is a unique feature only on EMF-390. It visualizes RF on the LCD screen. Users can see how the RF level changes in real time. 12.Free PC software comes with the purchase: if you like to analyze the measurement data, this free software is for you. 13.Forum support: there is an online support forum, really like this community. Feel get supported after purchase 14.There are so many other features: like backlight adjustment, contrast, brightness adjustment, have fun to explore. 15. The appearance of the unit does not look like talented, but it does .

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can it be put in a certain area and left there to run continuously and can that data then be downloaded later?**
A: Yes.

**Q: What is the difference between rf browser and rf spectrum?**
A: RF browser mode: detects total amount RF radiation from all sources that have frequency bands between 0.01GHz to 10GHz.

RF Spectrum Analyzer mode: detects RF radiation in specific range of frequency bands, such as, 50 to 65MHz, .... up to 2.5GHz

**Q: Why does the spectrum analyzer have a large gap in its frequency range between ~1ghz and 2.4ghz?**
A: The RF Spectrum Analyzer is an extra bonus feature besides the RF detector up to 10Ghz on EMF-390. Due to the cost constraint, the RF Spectrum Analyzer mainly focused on popular RF bands.

**Q: Does it teach you the particular emf pattern of a ghost? lol**
A: This is the EMF meter. We have GQ Ghost meter detects ghost pattern. From small ghost to big ghost.

I bought this portable meter to check and monitor my personal environment, for home and on-the-go .

Used daily and it’s still working (about 2 years). Moisture got into unit by just being outside and discolored the white screen from white to gray with blotches but still functional. Customer Support responsive. Will buy again.
