What I got was a carving set like many others. May or may not be the same time will tell.These are mid priced comparing the other same knives. Blades willl need a good sharpen before use, there sharp but will need a honed edge. The steel blades are of high tempered steel and should hold a sharp edge. The wood handles vary in the wood there made from. Mine are 2 Hardwood and one medium hard.
