I purchased one a few months ago and was happy with it (would be a 5-star) and decided to get a second one, but the new one is different. The first one has a carabiner with a pin as shown in the ad photo. The second one has a larger clip with a "wire gate." I had not seen this type before. I read on another site that the wire gate allows for a larger opening, but I don't know why you would need a larger opening for this use, and I am not sure having a larger carabiner is a plus. I think it will work okay (or I can easily change the carabiner,) but I don't like that it is not as pictured so that is why I am rating it a 4-star. I am attaching photos that compare the old and new design and show the new pin. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than Angry Weasles in your boat. Shock corded as well so that should you hit full extension it doe not just simply abruptly stop. Also because of the shock-cording, It stays out of your way when in use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Can't lose the paddle now *by K***H on Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2015* Just hook it on to your paddle like the picture, with a cow hitch. Then tighten up the springed stop for extra piece of mind and to keep it in place, but the cow hitch alone should keep it on the paddle. Prefect length, never in the way, and a useful carabiner that I used also to lock up other things.
