Review: Excellent Senior Nutrition for Big Dogs - We switched our 10-year-old Great Dane to Royal Canin Size Health Nutrition Large Aging 8+, and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made for his health and comfort. This formula feels thoughtfully designed for a large senior dog: the kibble size is big enough to chew easily, but the nutrients are really powerful. What We Love: • Tailored for Aging: The food is enriched with EPA, DHA, and antioxidants, which are great for supporting cellular health as our dog gets older. • Bone & Joint Support: For a big dog, joint health is a big concern — this formula includes both glucosamine and chondroitin, which seem to help with stiffness. • Gentle on Digestion: The proteins are highly digestible, and there’s fiber to help with intestinal transit, which has helped keep his stools firm and regular. • Good Energy Level: The calorie content is balanced, and we’ve seen that he still has energy for daily walks without putting on extra weight. • High Quality Ingredients: According to the ingredients list, there’s a thoughtful blend — chicken by-product meal, fish oil, rice, and added nutrients. Things to Think About: • Price: It’s more expensive than “budget” large-breed foods, but for us it’s worth it given the health benefits and how well our dog is doing. • Bag Storage: As with most premium dry foods, once you open the bag, you need to store it well (airtight container helps) to keep freshness. • Transition Period: We switched gradually over 7 days (mixing with his previous food) to avoid upsetting his stomach. That’s actually recommended for this formula. Results in Our Dog: • His coat is shinier and softer than before. • He seems more comfortable when lying down, and we detect less joint stiffness in the morning. • Mealtimes are something he clearly enjoys — he eats consistently and seems to like the food. Overall: If you have a large-breed senior dog, Royal Canin Large Aging 8+ is a top-tier choice. It’s not just filler kibble — it’s formulated to help support an aging big dog’s body on multiple fronts, and in our experience, it delivers. Highly recommended! Review: My dog loves it. - Not sure how it tastes but my dog jumps up and down every time she sees me filling her bowl so I guess it must be good. She's a 10 year old lab and has been eating this for the last couple of years. No issues (allergies, upset tummy, etc). This will be the only food I will continue to buy for her. My vet always says this is what she feeds her dogs so that has to say something. I do wish it was cheaper though! ## Features - LARGE BREED DOG FOOD: Royal Canin Large Aging 8+ Dry Dog Food for large dogs weighing 56 to 100 lbs - BONE & JOINT SUPPORT: A combination of minerals and nutrients to support the extra demands on a large dog’s bones and joints - DIGESTIVE HEALTH: Easy-to-digest, high-quality proteins, plus fibers and prebiotics to promote optimal stool quality - HEALTHY AGING: Precise mineral and amino acid levels to support aging kidney and heart health - MIXED FEEDING: Crunchy kibble dog food texture pairs well with Royal Canin wet dog food for added palatability and hydration - QUALITY AND SAFETY: Attention to the very smallest details helps Royal Canin deliver precise and effective health nutrition for pets - TAILORED NUTRITION: Check out the full range of Royal Canin wet and dry dog food formulas that offer precise nutrition for dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00CP1NAU4 | | Additional Features | Large Breed Senior Specific, Antioxidant-Rich Formula | | Age Range (Description) | Senior | | Age Range Description | Senior | | Animal Food Diet Type | Raw | | Best Sellers Rank | #10,741 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) #518 in Dry Dog Food | | Brand | ROYAL CANIN | | Brand Name | ROYAL CANIN | | Breed Recommendation | All Breed Sizes | | Container Type | Bag | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 768 Reviews | | Dog Breed Size | Large | | Flavor | Chicken | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00030111518330 | | Item Form | Pellet | | Item Weight | 30 pounds | | Manufacturer | Royal Canin | | Manufacturer Part Number | 518330 | | Model Number | 518330 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Occasion | Birthday | | Package Size Name | 30 lb Bag | | Pet Type | Dog | | Product Benefits | Supports bone & joint health, promotes digestive health, supports aging kidneys & heart | | Recommended Uses For Product | Senior Dog Care, Bone and Joint Support, Digestive Health | | Special Ingredients | Protein-Rich | | Specific Uses For Product | Hip and Joint Support, Skin and Coat Health | | Target Species | Dog | | UPC | 030111518330 | | Unit Count | 480 Ounce | | Warranty Description | 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEED If you are not completely satisfied with this product, Royal Canin will replace the product or refund your purchase price.
