I was wary of the potential of a false alarm especially when I had just unwrapped and plugged it in. I took caution and called the gas company. When the gas technician came, his device detected gas right away. It turns out that the plumbing company did not properly tighten the gas line to the dryer when they installed it. Our dryer was leaking gas for several days! I'm so glad that I purchased this gas detector. I will be buying another one for the kitchen. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works perfect *by J***I on April 8, 2019* I just installed a propane range and even though I leak tested everything, I still wanted to make sure if it does ever leak, we'll know about it. As soon as this came, I plugged it into an extension cord and turned on one of the burners without lighting it to make sure that A) it worked and B) to hear the notification sounds so that we would recognize it. Worked exactly as I expected, so I plugged it into an outlet near the floor (since propane is heavier than air). This plugs right in to the wall and has big display. Puts the mind at ease knowing if there is gas in the house. It does work, i have it in my laundry room where my furnace, water heater and gas dryer are. We recently had drained the water heater and the alarm moved from 0 to 1. After about 30min it went back down to 0. The alarm did not go off because it was not a high level of gas.
