To enhance the sight and sound sensations of this illusion, we use a parabolic dish heater and beam it at our couch. Heaters like this emit a directional beam that's felt as a palpable wave of heat, thus adding a third sensory impression of warmth to our virtual reality fireplace. All that was missing from this multi-sensory illusion was the aroma of wood smoke. Thus, began our sniffing quest of the scented candle aisles in several local stores. When no candle that we sniffed had a convincing aroma, we decided to try desertcart. With online shopping, you have to give up the touchy-feely-sniffy sensory inputs that help you decide on products in brick & mortar stores. So, we had to rely on the reviews of customers who had purchased and used the candles that were available. Review: Love this scent and it burns FOR-EVA - I've seen reviews talking about soot and burn problems, but I have had none of those. I have had two of these larger varieties from WoodWick and I 10 of the shorter version and NO issues. In fact, I love them. They fill the house with the scent (it fills up my lower level all the way up the stairs) and Wood Smoke is so comforting. In the winter the scent warms the house (without literally giving off heat) and in the summer is makes me nostalgic for the winter. One thing to keep in mind. I think since they are made with soy, they don't travel well during high heat (Summer) so you might find ordering in cooler weather is the way to go. I ordered two and they were slightly melted but the wick was still dead center - so I was able to use the candle and it burned without issue. And it burns a long time, all day for a whole week I have found.
