I thought it was intentional, to reinforce the structure, but soon I noticed the top would bend and cave in, to the point I could see it from the front (picture attached). My two foster kittens are quite the little energy balls and tend to toss and turn around a lot, so if the top fit better, it would have been a perfect product...Other than the top problem, the cats love it and it fits really well in the shelving unit. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cats LOVE it! Hard to vacuum inside because the only access is through the small opening in the front.Overall I am happy with this bed.
