I chose the Large home as I liked the extended 'tunnel' entrance. The hog enters through this into a 'corridor' area and when reaching the corridor end needs to turn into the actual house, therefore encouraging him/her to turn back into its sleeping quarters, thus preventing any nasty windy blasts. The roof is a VERY weighty composite material which keeps all water out. It also has a hasp so that you can lock in place and keep predators out, that said I doubt whether a predator would be able to lift it. All wooden areas are super strong too and build quality is second to none. We filled the box with straw pre-hibernation in 2023 and were rewarded with a beautiful hedgehog overwintering (and still in daytime residence even now in May!) Our hog obviously knows quality when he/she sees it! We have been advised (by a hog rescue) not to clean it out yet just in case ours is female and chooses to mate and have her babies in there! I feel so honoured that this adorable creature has chosen our hog house for her home, especially as our garden is not that large. P.S. We feed semi-moist hedgehog food, so hopefully our hog will not have to risk journeying too far! Thank you Riverside Woodcraft for such a wonderful product.
