Nice, diffused light regardless of bulb type. Solid hardware for holding the globe to the fixture. Canopy (the part that's mounted to the ceiling) isn't period-correct -- but neither are competitors', even at more than twice the price. Found correct 5" brass "modern dome" canopies at GrandBrass.com. You'll need a few other related parts from them and some appropriate spray paint and you're fully retro. Fair price for a decent product -- very happy with them! ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars good customer service, bad product *by B***G on Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2018* The customer service of this seller is excellent, but I cannot recommend this light fixture. I purchased both the 10" and 14" fixture. The 10" fixture was somewhat easy to install. The installation instructions are incredibly unclear, especially when it comes to the removal and installation of the glass globe shade.The fixture arrives already assembled, but you must remove the shade in order to put in the light bulb and install the fixture. I had to look it up online for how to remove the shade, and some people said that you just pull it gently. This is wrong, as you must unscrew a very small plastic screw, which then allows the top component to slide up, which then gives you access to the prongs that hold the shade in place.I was able to install the smaller version with some moderate effort. The larger one was a different story. I installed the fixture to the ceiling, and as I was installing the shade, it exploded into hundreds of pieces into my hands. Luckily I only got a few cuts, but I was left really shaken, and with a giant mess of glass shards to clean up. The seller graciously sent out a replacement globe, but unfortunately the problems with installation didn't end.The small plastic screw that attaches the fixture to the cord, is cheap and super soft. So as I gently turned the screw with a small screw driver, the screw just bent, and was then impossible to tighten or loosen. I worked with a drill to gently remove the screw, but even so, the top portion of the fixture (the part that holds the shade) would not budge, which makes putting the shade on safely, impossible.After now spending hours, and waiting a month for the replacement shade, I still have a bare, hanging light bulb in my entryway.The fixture itself looks nice, but the build quality is poor, and the installation is very complicated due to the low-quality craftsmanship. You definitely get what you pay for – I've installed numerous ceiling light fixtures, and this was by far the worst experience. I can't recommend this light fixture based on my experience with the globe shattering in my hands, and the difficulty of installation. I would actually go as far to say that this fixture is unsafe. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars A few potential problems *by J***R on Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2018* This is a pretty standard fixture at an attractive price. We have this style of globe in many rooms, and they prove good, even light and look good. This new fixture is essentially the same as other more expensive models.However--a few cautions:1. As other reviewers have pointed out, the metal springs that attach the glass globe to the ceiling fixture is *very* tight. Other versions of this globe fixture are significantly easier to work with. This may be a problem if you don't have strong hands and/or some dexterity, since you'll need to take the glass globe off to change burned-out bulbs.2. I thought I could avoid this problem by installing LED bulbs--only to discover that the opening at the top is too small for extra-large LEDs (anything over 100 watts equivalent). This is only a problem with the largest fixtures in this model, but it's a nuisance. I ended up using a fluorescent bulb, but that will need to be replaced more often and I'll have to deal with the tight spring attachment.3. The fixture comes with a wiring diagram and installation instructions that are essentially unreadable. I finally figured out that all you really need to do is hook up standard black, white and ground wires; the other connections are (probably?) for dimmer circuits.
