How does the access hatch lock/unlock?** A: mine are fixed to a plasterboard ceiling. Not sure of the fire rated side of things. I've not opened them but don't think a tool is needed to open the hatch. **Q: hello. do you think this product will retain smells? are the sides air tight enough?** A: Not really. I used in ceiling to give access to trap in shower so didn’t have to dismantle if had issue. I also have one covering stop cock under kitchen unit. Shut secure but not convinced it would retain a smell **Q: How do you secure it to plasterboard ceiling?** A: Cut the ceiling plasterboard the size of the inside of the hatch , put a good size bead of no nails silicon or decorators caulking which is cheaper on the flange or lip , press hard in then secure with screws in the inside side of the hatch sides into the plasterboard temporary , remove screw when silicon sets . or when ceiling cut to size line the inside of the ceiling plasterboard with 2x1 timber ideally or any size really , secure timber by screwing from the ceiling underneath into the timber , then place hatch into the void and screw inside the hatch sides into the timber . good luck ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Acceptable and cheap.
