The compressor is quiet, and because of the regulator, it doesn't have to run constantly. Be prepared that it will stop when the airbrush isn't actively running. The airbrush heads are fine quality, and we were both able to get a pretty controlled flow quickly. It will take some practice for anyone, but this is a great starter kit. When we got this one, the included regulator accessory had broken off of the compressor, and had broken the threads off that would have made it usable without the regulator. My husband was a bit disappointed that he couldn't use it right away, but i contacted the seller soon after. They were quick to return my email, and after exchanging about 3 emails for extra information, they rushed another compressor and regulator to me. I had it by Jan. 6. My guess. **Q: Can this set be used with clear finishes such as nitro cellulose lacquer?** A: I have never tried this. But I cannot see any reason that it wouldn’t work. I have only shot expensive three part aircraft paint with it. The thing is that this air brush sprays a very thin coat of paint. So you have to make multiple passes to get as much paint in place as you would get with just one pass of a touch up gun. Good luck. GHW **Q: Do i need to thin the paint that comes with it or use it as is?** A: Depends, on how thick the paint is, and what your trying to achieve, I've done both **Q: can this be used to apply liquid body paint?** A: Yes, no problem. Although I don't know what kind of paint is best for body painting, cake decorating, motorcycle gas tanks, etc. The airbrush simply doesn't care and will spray whatever you put in it provided it's thin enough. For general art painting on paper or metal, I've been using regular acrylic paint and thinning it with Windex, which is basically ammonia. I'm are they sell special body paints, but I'd assume it's the same acrylic with a more aggressive thinner like alcohol or even something like toluene or acetone. I've had no issues with it. I use this airbrush mainly for painting cosplay props and its been working wonderfully. The only issue I've been having is with the siphon fed airbrush. That one doesn't seem to want to let air flow through it for some odd reason. So if you are buying it for that I would suggest finding another option. But the other two that came in the set have worked wonderfully and the paint it came with is very nice! Really helps you to understand the consistency you want if you are new to airbrushes like me! I also really like that it came with the cleaning tools for it as well! Overall I gave it a 4 just because of the issues with the siphon fed airbrush but I would definitely recommend this to a friend to buy.
