Great Machine
I've had my Janome for nearly four months and it is a great machine. I started quilting, five months ago, using a very basic machine (another brand). There was nothing wrong with my basic machine. I was able to piece and free-motion (up and down stitches only) quilt finished pieces, but after increased exposure to the world of quilting, I wanted more in my machine. I wanted a thread cutter, a needle up/down setting, a knee lift, different types of feet, and a larger throat space. I also wanted to try other FMQ stitch designs that my basic machine could not handle. For some reason, my basic machine didn't like FMQ unless I used up and down maneuvers only. I had thread tension problems. I was also tired of having to change my front-loading bobbin case. The bobbin case always fell apart. I researched several machines and my decision came down to this model or the Janome 6500/6600. I didn't need the additional types of stitches, so I chose the 6300. The machine is heavy but setup was a breeze. The manual is very easy to read. I love the top-loading bobbin case. Basically, you just drop the case in and you're ready to sew. I started sewing the day it arrived and I loved the difference I felt. I use the thread cutter and needle down position quite a bit. Oddly, I haven't touched the knee-lifter. I was so enamoured with the other features, that I haven't used it yet. I've used four of the many feet that were included. There are two others that I can see myself using. The extra 3 inches I have in throat space has made a huge difference. I don't have to fight with my pieces as much as I had to before when I quilted. Most importantly, I can now attempt any design of my choosing as I free-motion quilt with this machine. The machine is very sturdy. I've used it almost every day since I purchased it and I haven't had any problems. There are no negatives with this machine, but if there was something that I wish I could have instead of this, I think I would need to look into buying a mid-arm or long-arm machine. But for everyday quitling and even for sewing fabrics that aren't quilts, I have no remorse about my purchase. I'll be honest and say that I was not expecting to spend this much on a machine when I started looking for a replacement machine. I was hesitant to hit the "Buy" button when I settled on the Janome 6300p, but now that I've had it for four months, I'm glad I did. The machine was well worth what I paid. UPDATE (3/11/13): I forgot to add that if you want to use this machine for Free Motion quilting, you have to use a bobbin holder made for this purpose. This particular bobbin holder was not included with the machine I ordered. The case is called a "blue dot" bobbin case (part number 200445007). There is actually a blue dot on the top of the case. The tension in the blue dot bobbin case is set for Free Motion Quilting. If you use the case that comes with the machine, you will have problems with tension (thread breaking, nesting, etc.)

Review - Janome MC-6300P Professional Heavy-Duty Sewing Machine
Review - Janome MC-6300P Professional Heavy-Duty Computerized Sewing Machine by Beth Designer/Owner - BREATHE CLOTHING LLC BREATHE Clothing: http://www.etsy.com/shop/BreatheAgainClothing BREATHE-AGAIN(Recycled)Clothing: http://www.etsy.com/shop/BreatheAgainDesign Janome MC-6300P Professional Heavy-Duty Computerized Quilting Sewing Machine w/ Extension Table, Walking Foot, Darning Foot and More! I have been sewing for over 35 years and had a number of machines during that time. I am a clothing designer with a small studio and do much of my sewing myself. I have been looking for an exceptional quality, heavy duty, professional sewing machine since my vintage Viking/Husqvarna died 5 years ago. In my research, I have โtestedโ at least 4 to 5 machines (Elna, Viking/Husqvarna, Brotherโฆ) and finally came upon the Janome MC-6300P Professional I was very pleasantly surprised by this machine. This machine was designed for professionals and does not have endless embroidery or decorative stitches. The stitch quality is exceptional and for what I do, stitch speed is very important. This machine has sewing speeds of 1,000 stitches per minute. It is heavy, sturdy and unlike so many new machines I tested, not made of plastic, but of metal. It also has a 9" x 5" throat space for working with large projects, an optional knee lifter for lifting the presser foot and a time saving, built-in thread cutter. There are a generous amount of included accessories, most of which Iโve not tried yet. This machine comes with an enormous extension table for large projects. It does not have a free arm, but Iโve learned that for my work, I donโt really need that option. This machine makes buttonholes easier than any other machine I tested and they are exceptional quality. The automatic needle threader is the easiest Iโve tested. It has a low bobbin thread indicator and programmable memory recall. Winding the bobbin is fully automatic and and actually uses a separate motor, so you donโt need to un-thread the machine in order to wind a new bobbin. There are many other features that Iโve not explored yet. Overall I think this is one of the finest machines on the market. The Janome comes with a 25 year Warranty. Janome MC-6300P Professional 63 stitches 4 buttonholes LCD screen Maximum sewing speed: 1,000spm; 700spm zig zag Speed Control Slider Arm and bed space: 9'' x 5'' Visible pressure gauge Jam-proof, magnetic, top-loading full-rotary hook system Independent motor for bobbin winding Automatic thread cutter with memory capability Front access feed dog up/down Adjustable stitch width from 0-7mm Adjustable stitch length from 0-5mm Individual stitch editing including elongation Memory Capability Auto-lock, needle up/down quick command keys Vertical thread delivery system with built-in thread guide bar Built-in needle threader Extra-high presser foot lift Twin needle guard Knee lift 10 standard feet Large extension table Electronic foot control Sewing light

Great Machine-- but
I waited for a while to review this because I wanted to use it a lot first. I made a fleece bathrobe and a small quilt It sews like a dream--all stitches are even--including the decorative ones. The fabric feeds very evenly as well. I am a novice with Free Motion Quilting and have given up on other machines--either I am getting more accustomed to FMQ--or this machine makes it easy--I even made free motion trees with branches on my quilt. The bobbin fills up in seconds--fastest I have ever seen. I left the legs off the really nice extension table that comes with it--and it fits in my SewEZi table without having to buy another insert. I used pliers and pulled the fabric guide blade off the quarter inch foot--and like it much better for piecing, as it did not sew over pins very well with the guide blade in place. The standard foot can be used as a quarter inch quide by moving the needle position to the right. Things I wish were different: you cannot change the width of the blind hem stitch--you have to move the needle position--I can live with it--but Update 2017--bought machine 4 years ago--still using. Trouble spots---when I use the auto-thread cutter, the next seam I sew creates a nest underside so I do not use the auto cutter. For some reason the zigzag stitches pucker the fabric no matter what I do. It is great for quilting though. I bought a new see through 1/4 foot and it is more accurate than the metal one. I also bought a different standard foot as I do not like the one that comes with the machine--too long with the plastic front, cannot see my stitching. I bought an all metal A foot that is shorter and more to my liking. I like this machine as it is sturdy and has the high thread guides that I think provides more even stitches whoever heard of not being able to change the width on a basic sitch? Although the bobbin fills up fast--it does not fill up the edge of the bobbin--so you have to fill it more often. The manual is very cryptic--it does not explain all of the stitches or tell you how to use the hand look quilt stitch. It does not tell you how to adjust the eveness of the bobbin winding either. It also does not tell you about the blue dot bobbin case--a bobbin case that you have to purchase separately that has a loose tension for FMQ and the Hand Look stitch . I have had to find out this stuff by googling--and looking at the Janome website. The Hand Look Quilt stitch does work pretty well once you change the bobbin case and use 50 WT thread in the bobbin and Sulky invisibile thread in the top. It is now 2015--and this machine is still doing just fine. Once you learn how to trouble shoot problems--like going over thick denim seams it is a dream. I have had no trouble at all--no repairs--but I do find that nearly all sewing machines these days come with very little instructions on how to use it My dislikes are pretty minor--this is a great solidly built machine without all the fancy stuff I rarely use and in my price range. How many decorative stitches do you really need? It is very much like an old fashioned mechanical sewing machine--with just a teensy hint of computer techno geek added. Addtional note one month later regarding bobbin winding--I discovered that you can hold your finger lightly on the bobbin winding sensor to fill it that teensy bit further; it will beep and autostop again when completely full so do not press too hard. Still loving this machine for its old-school sturdiness.

Returned this machine for a Juki instead which I love.
This machine worked well for about a week then showed an E1 error which I couldn't get anyone on the phone to explain. The instruction manual said to contact my service provider. If I could have gotten someone on the phone perhaps it would have helped. Returned this machine for a Juki instead which I love.

let me say the company that fulfills this order was great. This is a machine review
First, let me say the company that fulfills this order was great. This is a machine review. I had it for 2 weeks. Sews like a dream. Great features. That is until it just completely stopped. The needle stopped going up and down - the hand crank couldn't be turned. All the threads were clear, and i followed the limited troubleshooting info in the manual... just dead. In 2 weeks. I spent almost a whole day getting in contact with Janome, only for them to give me useless information. Then I called the company who sells it to amazon, they offered to ship it back to them so they could fix it... then i got to thinking.. I don't want a 2 week old, $1200 machine that already needs to be fixed. I'm not new to sewing, I was using a straight stitch... Hopefully I just got a Lemon. I was really sad to return it. But beware, Janome is not known for having a flexible warranty - if your machine breaks, you will most likely have to pay to ship it back to the company in OK to get it fixed... you might get lucky and have a local store who works on them and will work with you, I however don't, so that was my only option.

Good machine, but it did not come with the ...
Good machine, but it did not come with the "bonus package" as stated. There is not a way to notify Amazon about the missing items.

Heavy duty machine with just the right amount of fluff
While I don't often write reviews, I felt the need to show my love for this beautiful, well-built, fully functional machine. For the past 55 years, I have owned and heavily used 4 machines. The 3rd and 4th which I still possess: a 12-year-old Euro-Pro and a 78-year-old National Wanamaker. Both are still functional and have their own set of positive attributes, but I'm at the stage of life where I desire those attributes in one machine. After extensive amount of on-line research -- no touching or taking a test drive during the current pandemic -- I chose this Janome 6300P. While the price I feel is mid-range in a high end machine, after almost 2 weeks, it has not disappointed. In my experience over the past 10 days of daily use: Pros: It is computerized, but set up becomes intuitive and has a variety of stitches built in; sturdy and does not bounce around while high speed sewing; comes with an array of attachments; comes with extension table -- I'm not fond of them and have purchased an Arrow drop in cabinet; the bobbin winding is awesome -- I squealed with glee at the speed and ease; and best of all -- it sewed through 7 -- SEVEN !! -- layers of various weight fabrics without a hiccup or growl! Cons: Not a free arm, not a big deal to me as I have another machine to sew sleeves or whatever. Since I'm quilting again, the only slight disappointment was the free motion quilting foot included with package. It's performance was really not superior to my Euro-Pro attachment/machine. However, determined as I was to get it right, after more research I purchased the Janome convertible free motion quilting foot and the Janome free motion, low tension bobbin case; these two items combined makes the world of difference. I was free motion quilting like a pro in minutes -- well okay, not really a pro, but let me tell you I was so enjoying the process and difference in results was absolutely unbelievable. Leah Day would be proud of her student. It is a shame, and no doubt end game, that companies sell package deals that do not include top notch accessories, but I was happy when I found them. I'm sure that I will continue to have a blast whipping up quilts, clothes, seat covers, upholstery, curtains, rugs..... I'm glad I treated myself after all these years with a machine that in my book does it all very well and with ease.

I Love Janome, Excellent Sewing Machine
I ordered this sewing machine after having to return the Singer Sewing Machine that I ordered a few days before. I wrote a long review on why the Singer machine was returned, so I won't bother with that here. I already have one Janome Machine, a Magnolia. It's a great machine and I haven't had any problems with it but I sew everyday and I wanted a machine with more features. Specifically a faster machine, an automatic thread cutter and a knee lift. This machine has delivered all those items and more. I love this machine. I have had no problems with it and have sewen three quilts and several other projects since I received it. I love that it came with and extension table (they cost around $100 to buy separately). It also comes with alot of different feet and a nice case to organize everything in. I love the automatic thread cutter and the knee lift, they save me tons of time. This machine is very fast and not too loud. The bobbin winder works very well and you can wind bobbins while sewing as there is a separate motor. I was able to unpack and set it up quickly. It is very easy to use, I flipped through the instruction booklet to make sure I threaded it correctly and I was able to sew with it right away. This machine is kinda heavy, so If you want a machine you can cart around with you then take that into consideration, also this is not a free arm machine, I don't sew clothing so that doesn't bother me but it might bother someone who does sew clothing. I would highly recommend this machine!!
