One reviewer received seed with an expiry date only 6 weeks away. Is this typical from this seller?

I haven’t had that problem myself but would recommend that you contact the seller to resolve the issue as 6 weeks expiration is not good enough. I have a small garden with 8 feeders so need a long expiration date, which up to now has been fine.

I don’t want to attract and feed rats. do many of these sunflower hearts fall/get left on the ground? thanks paddy

I have the same issue with potentially attracting rats. Obviously seed hearts don’t cause as much debris as the whole seeds with husks but some do get dropped on the ground. I have a plastic tray attached underneath the feeder to catch the seeds. I buy big trays that screw into the feeder but a friend of mine makes his own trays from big flowerpot saucers.

Where are these sunflower seeds grown?

I wish I did mine were infested with maggots which then morphed into black flies, unpleasant. I had to throw away a full bag.
