Hey where are my instructions??!!
Uh Correction -Don't be a me and let your instructions fall down the inside of your your couch??!? Honesty, I spent about 7 hours figuring out how to set this up. Welp It was more than worth the effort. This camera is awesome :) I researched peephole cameras and this seemed pretty amazing. Price didn't bother me much - I would have spent and additional several hundred I needed a cam so bad. The more expensive than BrinnoDuo, seemed to have less features, and had the appearance of being the same product, sold by different companies, bearing strange names. Anyway, once I figured it out, it was so simple to setup I did it an extra two times in mere minutes. Short story long, whilst I did the Rooster strut around my condo, I plopped don't on the couch to reward myself with a cold glass of grape juice, and low and behold... The instructions were poking me.. I laughed at myself for a moment, and then chucked them in the circular file without even looking at them. Summary: There are a lot of little steps you have to do to configure the functionally of all the features. Therefore, I highly encourage you to follow the instructions. Although I have never seen them, I imagine they drastically reduce setup time. The reviews for this item are way to low. Don't be fooled by them, I suspect they were people being a me. Minus the OCD thus allowing them quit trying. This is a quality product.. I'm highly pleased. Actually this is an across the board 5 star item, but a straight 5 star review I take with a grain of salt.

Battery life was 2 days, and app didnt work properly
I thought this was exactly what I needed for my apartment. While I knew the motion detector would not get used, I loved the knock sensor. Here’s the problems: The app did not work on my iPhone XS. Well, the app worked and all, but the monitor told me no internet connection.. which I had. Therefore, the app was useless. I was told to use my HotSpot.. um, no. It’s wifi capable, and I set my wifi up correctly. It just wouldn’t connect. I wanted the app so I could keep an eye on things while my daughter was home. Here’s the biggest issue... the batteries. I have Industrial batteries and they lasted MAYBE 2 days. I went through 16 batteries in a week. I can’t afford that. Rechargables would give me the same issue so I didn’t even bother. The money is not worth it. I WILL say, the installation was EASY! As many components as there are, this was the best part about the entire thing. Installation was VERY simple... so simple even a caveman could do it!

Brinno Duo Front Door
The Brinno Duo Front Door i have this for about 3 years. The difficult part about it is the software where you have to download the app. And use the wifi connectivity, camera to app was so hard you need a lot of patient to get it to work, but the picture quality is pretty good. And have a really good night vision the value is a little high, but I think it's worth it and the other thing I don't like about it. I have to keep changing the batteries every 5 days Because this thing Burns up a lot of battery that the only problem i have with it. I'm currently using it And it still looked new.

Get a battery charger
This is a great device for monitoring and document activity around one's doorway. However, battery consumption is a real problem. Turning off the LCD monitor and Knock Detect features can lengthen battery life, but the Brinno still burns through AAA's rapidly, while the CR2450 button in the motion detector follows lose behind. Ideally, the unit should have an adapter plug option for the inside door mount unit. There are lithium chargers for both battery types available, and I would recommend you pair one with this, considering the expense and environmental impact and the potential of missing vital documentation in situations of crime. Otherwise an excellent security device for the record.

So much potential, so very hobbled!
It works as advertised but it sucks down battery power like a dehydrated man in a desert sucks down water—this is its main and most egregious detraction from being a great product. And worse, it doesn’t warn you via WiFi that it’s running low on power so it’s advisable to change the batteries often—you have to keep monitoring it, which is a royal pain. I wish it came with a power adapter that allowed this to use mains power (then you’d need a mains power outlet nearby…)!!! Management was a nightmare as there is no way to review and then delete unneeded pictures that waste space on the memory card. Despite an ability to connect to WiFi, no thought was given to the possibility of uploading pix or video to the Internet or sending them as attachments to some user-specified SMS or email for remote access and security in addition to storing it on the device. Photo quality isn't bad although not the best. For the asking price, you'd expect something better. The User Interface is something only a Japanese engineer from the 1970s could love, thus making the User Experience (UX) suck something awful. This has so much promise but very little thought was invested into its potential thus hobbling it like a hamstrung thoroughbred racehorse.

Unreliable
Unreliable and overpriced for the features you get. Item only takes photos, which is silly given that most front door/doorbell cameras can do video and 2-way conversations, while costing a lot less. Currently I have to reboot the camera every day to get it to reconnect to my WiFi, which is odd given that my apartment is small and completely blanketed in WiFi coverage. I do like that when the motion detector is installed in an area other than the included knocker there is no obvious sign that a camera is monitoring the person at your door.

The primary issues: limited longevity and the slow, inconsistent alert notifications.
The Brinno Peephole has generally worked well and serves its purpose of notifying me when someone is at the door, although the alert times have been inconsistent. When I am inside the house, the notifications typically arrive quickly, but when I am away, they can take three to four minutes to appear. It functioned without any major issues until yesterday, when the screen suddenly began malfunctioning. I’m not sure what caused the problem, but it stopped working unexpectedly. I need to replace the unit, but I am conducting research first, as longevity has been a concern. For reference, I purchased the device on June 16, 2022.

全く使えませんでした
人が来たら撮れるのを期待していたのですけど、全然期待外れでした。 外の風景がただ映っているだけで、センサーが働いた時には通った人がいないのだと思います。 今はのぞき穴から風景をただ撮る機械と化しています。

Utter garbage
Terrible product, motion detector doesn't work, stood a good 30 seconds in front of it didn't do anything, checked if all the symbols were good to see if motion detection was on, it was, app doesn't work properly, old color flash technology to sync to wifi, WOW this is the 21st century, after syncing the app takes forever to load files from the SD card and sometimes just loops and fails. Terrible overall experience, i bought this to see which delivery drivers or people were entering the building without masks as it is a health hazard and mandatory to enter with them, but this so called "smart cam" failed, support was decent but the product is a failure, do not buy. They charge 300 cad for the wifi version, save your money, its not even worth 20 bucks.

It works... some of the time
I'm not going to spend too much time on this, but I could go on and on! So far I'm not seeing a lot of products like this one so I haven't bought a replacement, but let's just say I'd like to! If you follow the instructions installation isn't too bad. You do need a smart phone though. It actually sends the wifi information to the camera with a flashing screen. There are great Youtube videos showing how to do this. As for how it works.... It's hit and miss. Just this morning I had a package delivered. This guy took a great picture by holding the package against the door so you could see the apartment number (confirming he took it to the right door). I got a copy of it with the delivery confirmation email. But I didn't get ANYTHING from the Brinno camera! He was right in front of the door and held the package against the door which should have easily triggered it yet the camera didn't see a thing! But it did take pictures as I opened the door 30 seconds later. The quality of the pictures is extremely low and it would be hard to use them to ID a person. Sometimes it's ok, but just barely. I'm sure they keep the file size very small so they can email 3 pics to you, but it would be smarter to store much higher quality pics on the Micro-SD card and only create the lower quality ones for the email. Also the unit turns on very slowly and the first picture it takes is very dark and pretty much useless. That's a real shame because often the first one is the only one that captures any movement. I see a lot of pictures of the very back of a heel as the person has just gone out of the frame. Even people walking past my door very slowly with a walker are going too fast for this thing to catch! It captures a burst of 6 pictures then turns off. I find that just isn't enough. It would be better if it stayed on capturing pictures for 10-15 seconds, maybe longer. This also applies to the screen. When it's triggered the screen comes on showing you who is on the other side of your door. That's nice, except it turns off after about 13 seconds. Not too bad but there are many times you want it to stay on longer. The only way to do that is to keep pushing the button. The problem there is the button makes a loud click and I'm sure the person on the other side of the door can hear that. Not great for security! The other problem with the above suggestions is that this unit runs on 4 AA batteries and things like that would use up the power a lot more quickly. Oddly, there is no A/C jack so you have an alternate source of power. This is a big problem for another reason: For some reason the motion detector tries to find the main unit very actively. When the main unit is off, like when the batteries die, the motion detector searches so often that it wears out it's battery in a few hours! You have to remove 2 extremely tiny screws to change that batter (plus it's a custom flat battery (CR 2450)) that you wont have just lying around. You'd think the motion would only search once per minute, or less but apparently it does it many times per second. The next problem is the phone app. It can log you out after a few minutes or leave you logged in for weeks at a time. You never know which but it's almost guaranteed that when you need to see who's at your door, you'll have to log in first. That takes time and often the person will be gone before you get the video working on your phone. In order for this system to be useful for security it should NEVER log you out! Also, most of the time, once I'm logged in and click the Live View button it will just show an error and say "Camera offline". You have to try it several times before it will work. I've found that while the camera is taking and saving pictures, it wont allow the app to connect. That's an extremely bad design since that is exactly when you need it to connect!! Another problem is that the unit has an ID number. Apparently anyone can just submit that ID and take ownership of it! When I first got the unit I had to go back and forth with tech support and supply them with many pictures before they would assign the ID to me. That took 2-3 days! Then after having it for a year the same thing happened again! Ok, I'm spending more time on this than I said I would so here's the last thing: When the micro-SD card is full, the unit stops working. When it detects movement the screen comes on and says "CARD FULL". You can't see who is outside your door! I have never seen any security device that does that! They ALL automatically delete the oldest photos to make room for the new ones. If you don't know how to plug the card into a computer and find and delete the photos you'll have to buy a new card. I don't know who would let this product be shipped like this!! I will say that their tech support replied to all my emails in a very helpful and friendly way (except the last one where I made a bunch of suggestions, which is odd because they said previously that they wanted to hear suggestions) but only once per day. So if you have to go back and forth a few times, that will take 3 days. So.... all in all, it works, but very low quality, doesn't catch all movement, isn't great for security, the app often fails, and they haven't upgraded any of these problems in over a year that I've been telling them about these issues. Also, it's extremely expensive so you should never have any of these issues, or they should be fixed very quickly. When I find a good replacement I'll be MUCH happier.

Power off by itself after a few hours. Battery last only 1 day.
Product does not work well. It power off by itself after a while. Need to remove battery and put back before it works again. The battery life is also only about 2 days, even though wifi not configured.

Terrible Setup
Installation is simple. Aside from that, I have nothing else to like so far. Software setup is horrendous. Wifi is sketchy at best. Motion detector will not pair. Android phone app will not connect to camera. It is simply a peephole. I could have save big bucks by leaving the old peephole in place. Troubleshooting at the online Brinno site is poor. None of the issues above are addressed. They blame it on wifi and batteries. The unit is BRAND NEW! I have another surveillance camera that I set up in 10 minutes. What is wrong with you people?
