A Solid, Practical, Insightful and Unique Golf Book
I really appreciate this book. The fundamental premise is that we don't practice golf effectively (when we practice at all.) The typical golfer just "scrapes and hits" at the driving range. Hitting one ball after the other. Best case, this makes us good at hitting one shot after the other which, of course, bares almost no resemblance to playing golf on a golf course.I really liked the first book from these authors, "Every Shot Must Have a Purpose" but I think I like this one even better because its information could be put to use right away in order to improve my game.Beyond that, I also appreciate the insights in regard to what's involved to really improve. Unlike other golf book authors, these women seem to have the whole picture. I like the emphasis on the inner or mental game, but I also like the way that they put that in perspective with other essential ingredients... like balance and tempo (to sight just two examples). They also talk about the necessary skills, physical conditioning and more. It's also a small book and easy to read (I like that), but most importantly, it's packed with useful and actionable information. Overall, I think that this golf book is excellent and highly recommended (assuming that you are willing to change your practice habits in order to improve your game.)Birdies and pars to ya!

Are You Willing to Practice?
You must be willing to practice with some determination for this book to have value. If you are willing, you will find a lot that is useful here. Good golf involves a heightened mental state that increases focus and concentration. It's easy for concentration to lapse, especially on the practice range, where shots can get thoughtless, hurried and mechanical. The principal thesis of this book is that focus and concentration can be learned, just like the more technical and mechanical aspects of the golf swing. There are many simple and practical suggestions on how to train for concentration and positive outcome. While some of the suggested drills may seem outlandish, most are straightforward and simple to do. Most golfers can get a lot of value from embracing these suggestions, learning how to slow down during practice sessions. The book is well written and organized. It's brief enough to be accessible, though the last few chapters do seem a little like padding. Perhaps they felt they needed a longer book. All in all a unique approach and a very good value for serious golfers of most skill levels who are willing to put in effort. Only the absolute beginner might want to wait a while before tackling this approach.

The Game Before The Game
This book, "The Game Before The Game" is an intricate part of improving one's golf game. It explains and trains one to incorporate the same focus and enjoyment of playing the course, with the process of focused practice. It has helped me to change my attitude of practice from a workout, to an extension of fun play. The book is well written with easy to follow instructions, which helps any player apply to one's practice routine. I look forward to seeking opportunities to practice areas which will most improve my course play. This book is an asset to all players; from the once a month player to the professional, it will help each one to become more focused and to enjoy each opportunity on the course or range. By using the instructions in this book, I now look forward to reducing my handicap each time I Tee Off!

Before the game
This is a quintessential book on learning not just to enjoy golf, but an incorporation of play of any sport or life in general. Simply put.....Smell the roses and enjoy the green grass while walking.

Was not what I was looking for
"Every shot must have a purpose" is an excellent book but this book is not good enough. It is boring and the exercises are difficult to understand without illustrations. I think the authors wanted to extend the success of their bestseller book but they couldn't do it. For me was a waste of money and time.

Structure
I found that this book gave me a structure to my practice that was lacking. It contained useful drills and things to work on when practising rather than just beating balls or standing in one spot and putting balls at a hole.It also gave some interesting philosophical thoughts that encouraged the reader to enjoy the game more.Overall I found that this book definitely helped to improve my "return on investment" (one of their terms) when practising, giving me better value for my time.

Genuine Improvement for golfers of all abilities
These two really get it! You really don't improve your golf by constantly seeking a technical remedy after a few wayward shots or a poor round. The average player hasn't the time or ability to make meaningful swing changes but significant improvement is possible following the regime proposed in this excellent book. They talk about mastering Balance, Tempo and Tension and on placing your mind and attention in a useful place before, during and after the shot. They show us how to practice intelligently on and for the golf course, the importance of body language and how to re-capture the sheer enjoyment of being in the open air playing the game you love.

Great Way to get the Most from Practice
This little book goes into how to practice in great depth. It also tells you what to do to warm up and hit shots before playing, rather than just radomly hitting a variety of shots on the oracice ground, a few in the nets, and some putts before teeing off. You need a routine, and here in this book is one as good as any. The writers have been involved with developing some top players over the years, so you better listen up. You can go on one of their workshops for s few days - but in comparision to that cost this book is a no-brainer.

Good ideas to improve your game
Great trilogy authored by Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott. Focused on the psycological side of the game and the time you spend on the range, to take the most out of them, even if you don't have much time to invest. I would recommend to read the two other books as well, "Every shot must have a purpose" and "Play your best golf now", they make a system with this one.
