This bowl has a big flaw. The notch that is molded into the side is fairly deep and items inside slide out. The notch does serve well to hold your thumb if you are serving passed appetizers from a bowl. Otherwise, the notch was simply made too deeply down into the bowl, and the contents are not securely held inside. Fruit for example falls out, as does salad contents. Meatballs are probably too large to fall out. Why this was done this way, I can't imagine - you don't need a deep groove to hold a serving spoon in place. Just poor design.The bowl itself is made of nice melamine that is fairly heavy and is nicely molded into an interesting shape. There are little rubber feet on the bottom which is a nice feature - hopefully though, they don't fall off!Overall, I kind of like the bowl, but it's utility is limited due to the position of the notch.
