Does it work? Yes, but...
The product does in fact strip the audio from an HDMI signal. However I ran into a few issues when using it and in retrospect for one conflict I should have known better. When this product is used with another passive inline device (i.e. a HDMI splitter that doesn't require a separate power source) no image is displayed. In addition without some sort of noise reduction the audio that is output from the stripper is unusable. When I had my monitor and device plugged into a power strip I could barely hear the audio from my device above the constant hum coming from noise in the splitter. I tried a few devices and one other monitor with no success. In summary: Does it work? Yes. Is it usable? Not really.
