May Arts 2-Inch Wide Ribbon, Gold Satin

Having happily lived in the same house for 25 years, I've been noticing lately that my lampshades are deteriorating. Many of them had metal ribs, and were wrapped with a plasticized material, which is falling apart. I tried wrapping one with lace, which was somewhat successful, although the lace is too see-through, and needed a layer of fabric between the ribs to render it opaque. Then I found this ribbon, and bought a spool. It worked very well. One roll of ribbon will do one average sized lamp shade, including having some ribbon left to be folded and ironed, then glued around the top and bottom rims of the lampshade to give it a nicely finished appearance. I used white to create the greatest lighting effect from my lamps, but other colors could be used to match your decor. This ribbon is fairly thin, but has a nice amount of body to it. Note that the sheen is much greater on one side than the other, so pay attention to that if you're using it for a craft or decorating purpose.

This is a beautiful color ribbon. However, it is more suited for crafting and not So much for hair bows or sewing. It does not seem as if it's very supple or soft but more stiff. I have bought other ribbons from MAy arts that are fabric and great for hair bows. This ribbon crinkles up once you use it. And cannot be untied and reused easily .

For "crafting" this is fine ribbon. It's certainly not good quality, so not suitable for clothing or in an application where you're actually using it to secure anything where you would tie And untie it. It's not bound on the edges so it frays very easily and is prone to get misshapen if you work it with your hands at all. Still, to glue onto something for display, or tie up a gift, it's great.

Great color, texture and size. Just has seams which make it look not as neat but otherwise it's great

When I ordered this ribbon, I thought it would make a great bow, in my bow maker, but the edges are not ridged enough. I guess the rigid part would be an wire insert on the edges, which I may not have payed for. The bow is a great gift adornment, but will not allow any imaginitive creations, because it is not stiff enough to do that.

it is... a crafts ribbon. I was hoping to use it to border a baby blanket BUT it's TOO thin. My fault and I hope to find another use for it someday.

It's hard to find good quality ribbon for a good price - this is both. Loved having an ivory neutral to go with Christmas gift wrap.
